When someone decides to create a thread and spends a couple hours or more gathering information and building the post, and your finished and decide to post it. Then to find out someone else posted your same story while you were busy compiling information and creating a thread to be a good contributor for new members and too make every post count.

You are an experienced contributor to ATS. Please be an example for our newer members and make every post matter.

And then to find out your thread you spent hours creating gets shut down because it was already posted while you were building yours.

Is there anyway to help prevent this?

Don't you hate that when it happens?

I would search first, then post a preliminary thread and come back and edit it.

I find that swearing like a sailor and throwing a tantrum helps when that happens to me.
