I've made up my mind on whom I am voting for in November

I've made my decision. I'm voting for Jill Stein in November, not Barack Obama. I'm well aware that more than likely Obama is going to win. I'm voting for the candidate whose views I have the most in common with, same reason I backed Obama back in 2008. Since his election, Barack Obama has compromised or downright turned his back on some of his initial stances/policies. Also, Barack Obama, as with many politicians, has been unflinchingly supportive of Israel and their actions and notoriously silent in regards to their actions.

Before I used to believe that voting "third party" was throwing away a vote. I completely disagree now. I want to vote for the candidate I agree, not the candidate that I think is going to win. I don't want my vote to just be part of the "in crowd." I want to stand up for my ideals and my views.

My vote does count and I am going to make my vote count. My vote will count by staying true to my views and voting my conscience. I refuse to just go along with the bi-partisan parade marching to the tune of "Anyone but Obama" or "Vote Obama. At least he's not Mitt Romney."

Also, I'd like to point out that before I used to believe in expanding the two party system to a multi-party system (I would say roughly a 3 to 6 party system) so that everyone would have the chance of being equally represented.

Now I believe that we should have a NO party system. I wish we would just vote for someone based on their views and stances on the issues. So many people vote because "Well, he's a Democrat" or "I always vote Republican."

A "No party/issue-based" vote would ensure many more informed voters. They would know the stances of the people they were voting for instead of just blindly toeing the party lines.

That is how I am now voting.

Well , if would like to Experience REAL FREEDOM the Next 4 Years in this Country , i suggest you give your Support to the Ron Paul Campaign . He is the ONLY One I see Defending Our Constitutional Rights Against Those who would Take them away , ie, the Neocon Reps. and the Radical Marxist Liberal Dems.........

Totally agree. The R vs. D is beyond absurd. I think the vast majority just align themselves with one party and don't bother to do a shred of research.

There is nothing wrong with voting your conscience, we all should anyway. I get, and have used the argument that voting 3rd party is throwing away a vote, but I think it's an immature way to look at it. It would take a freaking miracle to get everyone to actually do it, but if we did I think the country would be much better of.

Zanti, I do not agree with him on a lot of issues. He doesn't sync up with my views the way Jill Stein does. Please don't try to emotionally blackmail me into supporting Ron Paul by using keywords like "freedom" in a manipulative manner as if I am some uninformed voter.

If I agreed with more to most of Ron Paul's views I would vote for him. I don't. I agree most with Jill Stein.

I agree, Domo. I used to use the same argument and I'm now ashamed that I did. I fully understand now why people vote "third party" or vote no party but instead vote candidate.

Meanwhile, while a small number of people "vote their conscience", it ends up being within the margin of victory for the socialist pig that is in office now, So yeah, go right ahead and waste your vote for someone 99.9% of people have NEVER heard of. We need 4 more years of Obama and his "change". You do realize that he is changing the US to look like Stalinist USSR, right?

Yeah I had a real change of heart fairly recently about voting third party. The whole damn point is to vote for who you believe would best represent you, not who could potentially win. Then I start disagreeing with myself. Ugh.

Tovenar, I guess I could say the same thing about the Democrat Party/ Barack Obama. Although, even in 2008 (both he and Hillary before it was decided) had views that I disagreed with, albeit not many. One major one was their stance on Israel. But since Obama has gotten elected he has really changed his tune on some things. Now I know not all of his changes (for instance not closing Gitmo) can be blamed on him, but a lot of them can. He must be held accountable. Casting a vote for him is not holding him accountable. It's saying, "Hey, you go against my views now but at least you're not Romney." I cannot in good conscience vote that way.

When my wife and I took the test to see which political candidate we most agreed with, Jill Stein was at the top of both of ours. I found that interesting...

Though I'm still probably going to vote for Obama because I live in a red county and I want to do my best to add more to the other side.

Maybe I will vote for Stein though...

It's not my fault that no one has heard of Jill Stein or Gary Johnson. Maybe they should stop being lazy voters and do their research. We live in the information age. Ignorance and laziness is not an excuse.

"4 more years of Obama and his 'change'" versus 4 years of Romney and his? Sorry, I don't choose the lesser of two evils. There aren't many differences between the two of them, especially since Romney is only Conservative since he has flip-flopped on so many of his Liberal/Moderate views from the past. And Romney has flip-flopped on so many of his Liberal views from 2008.

Socialism? Stalinist USSR? Please save your Fox News partisan talking points for someone who isn't informed. It's not going to fly here. But you go ahead and waste your vote on Mitt Romney all because he's "anyone but Obama" as if you are really voting for someone different from him.

We could abandon the good 'ol two party system if more folks voted the way their conscience told them to IMO. We are all taught that to vote for a third party is "throwing your vote away" or "giving your vote to the bad guy" by default, so we line up like cattle and vote for ONE of the TWO options we are left with at the end of every 4 years.

This is the fist year I am voting with my conscience as well. I will be casting my vote for a third party and will be able to sleep at night with that choice. In 2008 I voted for Palin/McCain (you read that right) because I considered her to be the better of two evils. This year I am abandoning the 2 party system and am content with that. Unless something earth shattering occurs before election day...I can not in any way lay my head on my pillow knowing that I cast a vote for either of the Obama's on the current ticket.

If something is going to change in this country, we can not keep voting for the only two options that THEY have picked for us. Everyone must do what they can live with and answer for. Good for you for not just picking the lesser of two evils.

Well Orphen you have to vote how you feel is right to vote. I can't tell you to vote Obama or Stein or Romney or whomever. You gotta come to that conclusion yourself. And I live in a very red area (only like 4 of 20 give or take local counties went blue) of a usually red state (that went blue in 2008)

Well good on you for voting for who you want, If you feel as if you're informed and know a lot about your candidate that's great, your vote is not wasted when it goes to the person you fell deserves it..... As for Jill Stein though, I dislike almost everything she has to say on the issues, I read up on her and there is nothing in her platform that would make me think she would be a good leader..... Eventhough I think she is a terrible candidate, I applaud you for sticking to your guns....

Thanks, Jheated. I feel the same way about people voting for Gary Johnson or Ron Paul. I do not agree with really anything from their platforms, but if people are voting their conscience then I say kudos. We really need to break this two-party system!

But what if those folks "voting for the lesser of two evils" decided to vote their conscience instead? We don't need anymore Obama, but we aren't going to cure all with Romney either. If people started voting for who could really get the job done, instead of who was headlining the ticket, who had the slickest smile, the best speech, etc. maybe we could see "change" that wasn't for the worst. As long as we all continue to vote for the 2 CHOSEN for us....we will never climb out of this hole IMO.

"Throwing one's vote away" can go both ways. Choosing the devil you don't know as opposed to the devil you do is still throwing it way because you are still voting for someone else's choice in the end.

I understand the way you are thinking as I have always thought the same until recently. I wish there was a simple answer for all of us.
