New plan. Though you raised points which I could not have answered.

I would think. One with your apparent mental acumen, would be in high demand to whip up solutions to your own Country's social problems. Is your Country so perfect, they have no need of your prowess. Should I feel humbled, that you have turned your full attention to my Country, with half baked ideas of how to mess with my Constitutional rights.

Des

I'm focusing on your country because your system is the nearest to a perfect society. If it werent't for the big problem affecting us all. The corrupt people on top that is.

1. Divert some of that massive defense spending to eliminate classes and create one homogeneous class. Everyone has more than enough to have a nice house and then some. This will reduce if not eliminate crime because well people won't have a reason to resort to crim in the first place.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

This plan is doomed to failure also, in 10 years the classes will be back because the intelligent, personally motivated people will find ways to take money from the foolish, dumb or the lazy.

Well write into the constitution (not in my words obviously) the message that it is immoral to seek domination over your fellow man and that if this were to be tried by someone or actually happened, everyone has an obligation to prevent the "attrocity" and restore society to the already proposed homogenous class of before.

"Power and domination over your fellow man shall be stopped by law enforcement and military."

Write this into your constitution. Make it not erasable by any proposed laws or of the likes.

That was written into our Constitution, way back when we kicked you guys out of our Country all those years ago....duh...

Our current President may think he's a King...but he's not. Constitution trumps King....

Problem is, you did not realise the first step. That of creating one homogenous society happy with their lives. That's why corrupt people were able to get into power and start this whole mess. Because they took advantage of your vulnerability. The vulnerability was that you were to ignorant to change the whole situation.

So, what makes you think having a PHD excludes someone from being corrupt? You've got a catch-22 built into your grand new plan...no? Sounds like back to square one to me.....

Do you really think that's what all the scum in parliament are actually with all their souls trying to achieve?

No, that's not what I think at all! I feel that's what the scum outside of your Parliament is trying to achieve. Now you're trying to shove the same crap down our throats. I can promise that we won't swallow it though.

That PHD concept is long gone. The new thing is the homogenous class / little alteration to the constitution concept.

So only people with a PHD should own a gun?….. WOW, 100% of the people I know with a PHD should not be trusted with a butter knife and faint over a paper cut.

They may be educationally smart, but all of them lack the necessary skills to understand how things work outside of the classroom.

Oh look – a spider, should I use my gun to kill it? Now, what way am I supposed to look down the barrel again?

Great way to get rid of all the nerds I suppose…. Ok, so let’s implement that law right away!

Oh, I now see some amendments to your law’s so let’s look at them…..

1. A background check on your social stability, social circle, personal sanity, ideology and upbringing.

Buzzzzzz sorry – All the people I know with a PHD do not have social stability or a social circle, most live in dark rooms and like porn...... personal sanity is always in question regarding them….. Ideology and upbringing = dungeons and dragons.

So perhaps you could update your laws again to include anyone that has a played dungeons and dragons?

I didn't read all the responses so this may have already been said, if so... I suppose it will be said again.

Some of the MOST stupid people I know went to college and earned a phd, even more earned a lesser degree. Sure they can read a book and take a test. But some of them lack some of the most basic understandings of common sense. People owning and using guns should have more than adequate amounts of common sense. Do all of them?? Not by a long shot. Being able to achieve a 4.0 in a college setting has naught to do with the common sense it takes to handle a firearm safely IMO.

I think the laws as they stand now, work fine. As with anything, there are always people ruining things for everyone else. It doesn't matter what law it is...someone will find a way to act like a complete dumbarse and send folks into a frenzy on how to fix/improve it. This usually results in the stripping away of certain freedoms no matter how small.

It doesn't matter how stringent the gun laws become...the criminals will always have access and when you add more restrictions to the law, it will only result in the honest, nonviolent folks losing their right to own/carry a firearm at all. The honest people will be the only ones who will follow the law, leaving them even more defenseless in certain cases because the bad guys will only amass more firearms in the meantime.

Okay, listen. It's simple. Most politicians in the western world are the scum. They do not care about you. They will tell you what you want to hear while doing the exact opposite. If politicians were honest about something they could solve all problems facing humanity in a heartbeat. At least the smart ones.

You like saying this one particular phrase.....*one homogenous society*. It makes my skin crawl. Visions of the borg flit through my mind. What if your, one homogenous society, should collectively decide that you are wasting air. That you don't have the right to breath anymore. A bit of a problem...no?

I don't like your one homogenous society. No thank you, you can keep it over on your side of the pond.

The only thing I find wrong with that statement is your inclusion of the word "western". That is a worldwide problem!

If politicians were honest about something they could solve all problems facing humanity in a heartbeat.

"IF" is the silliest word in the English language! Unfortunately, none of your ideas will prevent the "scum" from rising to the top of ANY of the World's societies.

Much of what you speak of is based on complex non-absolutes. For example, what ideologies are acceptable and which are not? Who's to decide? Who's to judge the deciders?

What you describe also sounds really expensive. Ongoing nationwide evaluations for gun owners? Again, why not cure cancer or solve motor vehicle fatalities? Bee stings kill more people per year than domestic terrorism.

There is a lot of value in having a society full of fear, however. Unless you're not going to benefit from that, you're simply not doing sound logic/math.

Nice. I like it. You have made me renew my plan. My new plan is as follows.

There are plenty of people who will not be happy with a decent house and then some. They'll want more and then they'll want more after that. Unbridled greed of a minority is one of the biggest problems in the world... your plan doesn't address this.

Also only some crime equates to robbery... there's plenty of other kinds of crime, so no, there will still be crime.

Don't quit your day job to become Mr. Problem Solver.

But of course they would be prevented from rising to the top because people would be well informed and involved into state affairs unlike today where people are blinded by MTV and Hollywood.

Ahhhh you forget your own words....one homogenous society. Excludes individuals. The very same individuals you claim would be aberrant in denying you the air you need to survive. In your perfect little world, everyone would think the same. So, it would be a collective action killing you, not an individual. Checkmate....

Well that's too bad then is it. They will just have to be like everyone else and enjoy their lifes like everyone else. And if they try to get more power then they will be stopped by the majority. SIMPLEZ.

Interesting, since that's exactly where we are today. And the majority is doing nothing, individuals are all but powerless. Not simple at all...
