On the day of the first ever direct Preisdential election in Afghanistan, an explosion has reportedly taken place at a voting center in Mazar-e-Sharif. Officials have thus far denied that a bombing had taken place. This may have been a truck that caught on fire, according to some reports.

A BOMB exploded at a polling station in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e-Sharif early today, a Western official said, shattering what had been a relatively calm start to Afghanistan's first-ever presidential election.

There was no immediate word on casualties.

They probably won´t tell us until this election is over.

Kind of like every time there is a big blast some place, someone quickly rush in to claim:
"This was NOT a terrorist attack" almost before the debris hit the ground.
I´ve seen that more than once...
