Freaking well sick of "The Matrix" metaphors

It was a crappy movie, a ripoff of themes people like Philip K. Dick and William Gibson explored decades earlier.

Get over it already!

I suppose the flick is part and parcel of the conspiracy landscape by now...

Still, resorting to Matrix imagery somehow feels intellectually lazy to me.

Maybe I'm showing my age...

I liked the Matrix movies when they came out but I tried to watch them again and it was just horribly corny.

How come there's no gold or purple pill?

What about magenta? Beige?

I agree with the OP I have noticed an increase lately in the rabbit hole line, doesn't make me rant but it is cheesy and somehow makes a post seem a bit nasty for want of a better word!

You only need a red pill or green pill.

The green pill is more effective, but can cause day-time drowsiness. So it's for the "best rest you ever got with a cold" medicine.

The red pill contains much of the same cough suppressing decongestants as the green pill, but won't cloud your mind. For when you absolutely cannot miss the big meeting.

what about the LOGOS ship in the matrix and ZION. And then the big hype over the 2012 games LOGO which cost 400K and it looks like the words "ZION"?

A much better conspiracy movie in my opinion.

This was one of the very first conspiracy movies I watched as a kid, a true master class of a film.

Regarding the OP. The Matrix may have been cheesy and ripped off many much older and better constructed dialog in movies and books but the fact of the matter is that it appealed to a larger audience and still managed to infiltrate the minds of the sheep. This isnt a pissing contest of who the original is and which has the higher moral ground, Its about waking people up to the fact that they are slaves. That and only that is whats important.

So If they have to make cheesy movies with bad actors but it is still watched by billions and it wakes people up to the truth and gets them thinking and asking questions...who cares really? I see so many people fall for this "Authenticity" trap. Everything is a rip off of something else just build a bridge and get over it its called evolution "Mr Anderson...evolution"
