You raise a good point. However, simulation training is nothing compared to the real thing. And while you are saying it is indoctrination, to most people it's simply fun. I play a ton of FPS games and have throughout my life but I'm not inclined to join the military in any way, shape or form.

Perhaps it is only indoctrinating to the weak minded who join up for the wrong reasons?

I might be able to agree with you on that if the premise was narrowed.

It's not like the metal gear days on the Nintendo anymore and since society has become so violent over the past twenty to thirty years, we are going to see more and more problems from the younger generations. No wonder gangs have become out of control!

Yes i prefer the time when i was playing Legos
.. i miss that time now

nice little game to chalenge the brain at building things .. it was good
now we got HD PS3 and X360 games full realistic
video games are helped by the feds to make those games
and make sure it will make the youngster very addict to the blood, gore and killing

When we were kids we had one in the neighbourhood with access to his grandpas military issue radios. We used to take them through the woods, form squads and shoot each other with elastic guns or water guns. I think we started with sticks and "bang bang" noises to be honest.

Were we indoctrinated from video games? No. Because they weren't out yet. However, later on FPS games were all enjoyed by most of that group.

At the end of the day we were just having fun. The thought of actual conflict scared the hell out of us. We were 9 or 10 years old.

So what were they using in WWI and WWII to desensitize and indoctrinate? Those soldiers were pretty effective at killing in huge numbers and I think the only games they had were shooting playing cards at the fair.

Syria is about to be like a Track Meet, not a video game.

they need to get someone over there with a stop watch to take Assad's time in the 100 meters dash.

I think he might break Usain Bolt's 2008 record.

Oh man, this kid again.

To say someone joined any military because they spent countless hours playing Counterstrike or Call Of Duty or any such video game is just...well insane.

I have been playing games like that for years. I joined the Marine Corps because I wanted to, not because a video game "indoctrinated" me into warfare. That is just a silly way of thinking. Even if (and that's a big IF) there are any people joining any military force because they want to reenact their favorite video game, well they are in for one rude awakening.

Just stop with your anti-America, anti military propaganda. You are really reaching and it makes you sound stupid.

I wouldnt worry about the trolls. They are always shooting their mouths off and its funny because usually we dont respond to them. Im not going to even though the trolls trying to bait me into it. Better to let them sound stupid and show everyone their true selves. War as a video game eh? Hmm i play FPS ever since Doom came out and have had no desire to become a soldier. Im good at FPS as well. Still if you cannot seperate reality from a game you are a sorry human being.

If you think your tax dollars are paying for this, you've already taken the bait.

Your tax dollars pay the bank for the interest on your countries money, and wealthy bankers lend the government money to pay for war!

There's a little known provision in the Geneva Convention that use of "overwhelmingly superior force" is considered a war crime.

The various Presidents of the United States that have ordered strikes in almost every war since Nagasaki and Hiroshima could be considered war criminals.

You are a good person that care

i know there is still thousand of people that think exactly like you
compare to these trolls that support and excuse all US wars

US will be remembered to be the first country to have launched nukes on 2 civilian city
that wiped out hundred of thousand of people in seconds
if you excuse such war crimes .. then your soul has choosen the dark side

I won't comment on whether video games increase violence, because I can see how it could and how it could deter it.

But, what I do strongly believe is that is creates acceptance of states of war. If you play video games killing people, while you are playing, you engage in a fantasy of killing other people or characters. Nobody says "I killed your character" though. The game is most fun if you pretend the other guy is real and represents a real person who cares whether he loses or not. It makes us accept that life is brutal and violent, even though it is, to a large extent, made to be that way by the higher ups.

You would be a hypocrite if you were anti-war, but played violence video games.

Is the same true for violent movies? I think for movies, it's a bit different, because you are detached from the killing. It's not "you" pulling the trigger, it's someone else. Still, it definitely desensitizes us to watch violent movies AND also to hear about violent news. People barely bat their eyelashes when they watch the news, even if it is violent.

So messed up...

I liked violent video games .. especially when they are zombies to shot

but i think i have a stable mind enought to know its a game
damn Duke Nukem .. that game really made me like FPS
the girl club was the best part

i didnt even had a computer . until one of my friend showed me the Duke

nintendo with mario was gone

the FPS computer game industry really screwed mario's good legacy
one of the best non violent game ever
no guns .. just jump on the enemy lol

now i just dont play video game anymore
been a long time since a touched one .. its a waste of time
and games dont finish .. its always upgrading to level 103749837489
with new armor and guns .. it never end

now we only have apocalypse game like diablo and the end of the world with the devil
game of today are way to realistic .. its almost like if you were part of a war
its a freakin war simulator .. even better graphics then a flight simulator

War... Huh... Yeah!
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Uhuh... uhuh...!

War... Huh... Yeah!
What it is good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Say it again y'all
War... Huh... Look out!
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Listen to me - AAH!
War I despise
'Cause it means destruction of innocent lives
War means tears in thousands of mothers' eyes
When their sons go out to fight and lose their lives

I said:
War... Huh... Good God y'all!
What it is good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Say it again
(War... Huh!) Lord, Lord, Lord...
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Listen to me:

(War) It ain't nothing but a heartbreaker
(War) Friend only to the undertaker
War is the enemy of all mankind
The thought of war blows my mind
War has caused unrest within the younger generations
Induction then destruction
Who wants to die?

AAH! War... Huh... Good God y'all!
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Say it, say it, say it!
War... Huh...! (Uhuh... Yeah... Huh!)
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Listen to me:

(War) It ain't nothing but a heartbreaker
(War) Got one friend, thats the undertaker
War has shattered many young men's dreams
Made him disabled, bitter and mean
Life is but too surely precious, to spend fighting wars each day
War can't give life, it can only take it away!

AAH! War... Huh... Good God y'all!
What it is a good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Say it again
War... Huh... Lord, Lord, Lord...
What it is a good for?
Absolutely nothing!
Listen to me:

(War) It ain't nothing but a heartbreaker
(War) Friend only to the undertaker
Peace, love and understanding tell me,
is there a place for these today?
They say we must fight to keep our freedom,
but Lord knows there's got to be a better way

War... Huh... Good God y'all!
What is it good for?
You tell me!
Say it, say it, say it, say it!
War... Good God now... Huh!
What is it good for?
Stand up and shout it! (Nothing!)

Ok so you believe the "academics" that video games make people want to go to war and kill, (which is b/s) THEN you go ahead and say you know there was a controlled demolition on 911.
Make up your mind please.
BAAAH humbug

Do movies make people do the same?

Are kids who can't sit still in a classroom and be indoctrinated with lies, destined to be on medication to subdue them? Are they worth keeping alive?

Do voices in your head tell you what to do?
