Needles found in sandwiches, Delta says; FBI to investigate

edition.cnn.com

Washington (CNN) -- The FBI says it has launched an investigation into the discovery of sewing needles in four turkey sandwiches on separate Delta Air Lines flights from Amsterdam to the United State

The sandwiches were made in the Amsterdam kitchen of catering company Gate Gourmet, and were to be served to business class passengers on Delta flights.

Gate Gourmet spokeswoman Christina Ulosevich said the company has gotten no reports of similar incidents on any of the other airlines it serves out of Amsterdam. She said the company did not yet know how the needles got into the sandwiche

Oh crap.
Does that mean I'm going to be put on a watch list for my sewing kit and knitting needles now?

ETA: On the conspiratorial side of things, would that be a good way to transmit some sort of bioweapon? Although why would the needle be necessary. Seems like the work of a disgruntled catering employee, but seeing that they've been in business for a long time.... I don't know. It doesn't sound complete.

Maybe the TSA should start groping turkey sandwiches.

Well apparently someone making the sandwiches accidentally dropped some needles.
Why? No idea.
But seriously, it is not terrorists in this case. No way.

Is it not possible to bring along your own sandwiches on most flights today?
I guess this is a step in the line of keeping people from doing so.

Oh no it is a dangerous killer-sandwich!!
People will force deadly sandwiches down each others throats. We have to ban them...

Needles actually have quite a bit of flavor once you start chomping.

It is probably just ONE disgruntled individual that is upset with the poor pay they get at working for the airlines. Such a shame, I hope this person is discovered before they inflict some real harm.

You can bring your own sandwiches after the TSA swabs them for your DNA and declares that you are thereby a citizen of Turkey..

hehe....

Otherwise, you can have a needle sandwich.

Not to p*ss on your campfire here OP but how is this "Breaking Alternative News" and what's it's relevance?

Weird things turn up in food all the time..if people made a thread for each incident there would have to be a whole new site made to keep up with it all.

Slow news days suck..

Wouldn't it more likely open up the freedom for people to do so? Though I think you already can.

This would appear, at first glance, to be a terrorist act. If we are to believe Gate caterers, only Delta flights from Amsterdam to the US have been targeted, no other airline and no other destination.

One possibility might require investigating whoever found the needles. If passengers, did these passengers (on different flights) have anything in common (such as a desire to get free money from the airline)??

This mystery could go into extra innings.

pretty soon a fart will be a terrorist act on a plane...the TSA will have to go deep to make sure you havent had any beans or bourbon before the pre- flight check list.

Because if it is happening in several different cases, it is deliberate, not accidental.
