i thought women were only smarter during puberty, looks like it isn't a 1 time thing. i've always considered women smarter than men, why else would a man find a woman to come take care of him and do all his errands, obviously i am a male.

Who cares if women are 'smarter' than men?! They aren't stronger, faster, wiser nor they can't endure longer. Many things a man can do...women can't, but there's only 1 thing women CAN DO that men can't and that's have babies. God didn't create woman, so she could be 'smarter' than man. She was created to HELP her man....AND have babies. Anything other than that....fits into their (TPTB) agenda.

Imagine this: imagine if both species actually USED their friggin' brains, TOGETHER!!

Again, it depends on the individual. There are some pretty pitiful "men" out there and there are some women who could beat the crap out of Hulk Hogan. We just can't group people by gender anymore... or race, or hair color or nationality or any of that stuff..

For the creation comment, it brought to mind what my sister always said because she's got the same sense of humor I do...
She said "of course God created man first, you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece!".... LOL I still haven't found a good comeback for that one

The average intelligence is irrelevant, as the only purpose of the average person is to do what he/she is told and consume. Like it or not this world was created by a small group of extraordinary individuals who had the intellect and the will to push the boundaries of our knowledge and technological capability. If we're going to start seeing more female inventors and entrepreneurs, great. However the intellect of the average, as stated at the start of my post, is nothing to be happy about - the average person is still dumb as a rock. Only the high end of the scale matters.

I think it's down to the individual as well. Everybody is different regardless of gender.
A huge problem I have with these tests is that it doesn't measure all types of intelligence.
I could paint a masterpiece but my IQ might not be as high as someone who can solve mathematical problems easily.

good point. We also have to remember that HALF of the people in the world is BELOW average, that's what makes it an average
...and 68% falls in the middle (85-115) and 95% fall between 70 and 130. Those who are actually above 130 (not on the silly internet tests but real, professionally administered ones) are few and far between regardless of what people CLAIM to be.

I get tired of people who go on and on about their IQ but never had an ACTUAL test, they only took the online versions that rank practically everybody around 135 to hook and reel them. Here's a hint for them, if you get below 130 on an internet based test, you are below average in actuality, the internet tests LIE to you.

The most accurate (but still not close to actual accuracy) is the mensa screening test you can take online that will give you an "estimate" but it's still +/- 10 points off at times and only your first try is even close to letting you know where you fall since it tells you which ones you got wrong and you adjust afterwards. I've used it in classes before to show how bias can build with repeated attempts. We actually did an experiment with it with a control group and everything. It was pretty interesting.... it also put a little chauvanistic twerp in his place when several of the girls outscored him. He considered himself a "genius" and ended up around 118

Actually, there are professionally administered ones that do measure some degree of "artistic ability" as well in the measurement. Just not the online versions. They are administered by a testing specialist and address practically any area you can think of.

The IQ tests done by professionals are very different from the IQ tests you find online and very different from scholastic tests like the ACT, SAT and GRE. Most people have never experienced one and base their opinion on what they've experienced which are basically the scholastic/academic type tests that are used for college purposes, not to give an accurate account of IQ.

Exactly. And regardless of background. I was lucky enough to go to one of the oldest educational establishments in the world (6th oldest). They had, generally, exceedingly high standards. That said, there were a few in every year that, frankly, made a golf ball look intelligent - they were there purely because their parents threw lots of cash at the school. Think "Tim Nice But Dim" (Harry Enfield) but on a much dimmer scale.

What would be interesting is to see the actual IQ test used during the testing. Both now and previous ones.

I am not saying men are smarter than women, or that women are smarter than men, but it has been known that men (in general) are stronger in certain fields while women are stronger in others.

If the Test was some how changed to favor those strengths for women, or if the past tests had favored the strengths in men, the it really isn't a fare assessment then is it.

This could be more propaganda in order to bring men down. I wouldn't trust the results of a test unless we can see and compare it to other test. Especially if the test is different from past ones.

I also wouldn't trust the past tests either, as they were probably tailored more towards men.

Obviously the tests did not involve reverse parking a car in a multi-storey car park, i have been witness to some attempts that made me wonder if the driver was a alzheimers patient, trying to remember how to do it.

Okay, women are smarter than men! Give them a medal for it. Let them pat each other the back while they are at as well. Oh yeah, go to the boss and ask for a raise. Rub it in to your significant others' face. While your at it, hand him the baby with the dirty diaper and the broom. Feminists around the world rejoice, because they have finally conquered the male chauvinist pigs.

On a personal note, most of the women in my immediate family are damn near close to brilliant, and I have met quite a few in that regard on my travels as well. I can honestly say that, but they don't go around tooting their horn about it either. Intelligence should be judged on behalf of the individual, and not a group or race. Everyone loves to go after the one size fits all approach, and that is blatantly wrong and irresponsible. There are dummies in both sexes, and I can attest to that as well. On another note, where are the statistics, study parameters, and other items associated with this scientific study? No journal publications?

All I got from the article, was some doctor spouting off about this, and no mention of rock solid data? Oh yeah, he is going to wait and publish the findings in a new book? Yeah, okay! To be fair, I have known many brilliant members of the opposite sex, and I have known many dummies. Furthermore, the male gender is about on equal footing in that regard as well. Could it be that intelligence, and lack there of could be solely a matter of one's personal perception? Therefore, rendering any legitimate scientific analysis null and void? Everyone has preconceived notions, and that includes so-called scientists. Would that not contaminate any scientific study into the intelligence of any particular group, gender, or race? Something to think about. In the meantime, I best put my apron on, and get dinner ready. Honey, hurry up you are going to be late for work!

That's exactly what the results are showing ISN'T true. That strengths and weakeness are dependent on gender. They aren't. They are very individualized traits now that the social barriers are coming down. "Men" aren't better than "Women", it's an individual characteristic, not a gender based one.

You do realize that 90% of people, regardless of gender, are dumba&$es, right? It's like applauding someone for being less of a dummy lol. How about giving credit where credit is due instead of further trying to divide the species by pointing out more differences between us.

That's pretty much what we're saying. It's based on the individual, not on the gender.

Not going to give them a medal, but would be happy to take them out to dinner, some drinks, maybe a little dancing... see where it leads...

Something tells me that "doctor's" work was just based on wild speculation and a touch of dementia to brew things around. Nothing scientific about that.

You haven't been following the thread have you? You just looked at the first post and drew a conclusion.
Read through it, you may be surprised.

It's not about pointing out differences, it's about taking those differences away based on gender, race, and everything else and letting people be individuals and each person being appreciated for who he or she is instead of making stupid generalizations meant to put one group down and raise another group up.

If you're going to try to attack and insult me, at least know what it is I'm saying before you do it.
