The reason why women are discouraged from working in job fields that are male dominated has less to do with that "weaker or fairer sex" meme and more to do with protecting male ego. Put us in any job out there and we will at a bare minimum be able to keep up if not surpass.

Of course women would be more than able to keep up and definitely surpass. Women read the instruction manual, and ask for directions...men say "I got this. Don't worry." Listening to a talk radio show last night...woman caller came on said she was an electrician..."What??" hehehe...In my male mind, I don't think I have ever heard of a female electrician...Now, it doesn't surprise me...women can do anything that men can do, and more than likely better

Yep. I recently put together a coffee table and an entertainment center all by myself even though the instructions for the entertainment center called for two people. I felt like I was playing Twister.

But I made it work and I did it all by myself.

I am a male.. And i have no problem admitting that the strongest people in my life are women.. For example my sister taught me everything i know, and she helped me out of so many jams.. man without my big sis i would be nowhere right now..

I was so proud of myself the first starter I put in my car! It had broke and I went to the auto parts store and told them what my car was doing guy said sounds like a starter so I bought one and replaced it... car worked wonderfully after that!

and the first computer desk I assembled was great!

I started thinking what on earth do we have men for if we can do it all by ourselves... but then I remembered.... ohhhh that!!!

There are different kinds of intelligence, it is hard to measure it all.

I have great reading comprehension and information retention, my stbxh can barely complete a sentence.He would never do well on an IQ test.

But at 15, never having worked on cars, he took a camaro engine out, rebuilt it, and had it back in and running perfectly in a week.
and has this knack where he can watch somethign once and do it.

I would still be working on it.

This is only in one country LMAO at you people. In some countries the average IQ for the people like in Papua is only around 20. Each country ha a different average IQ score, in the Middle East almost all women have zero education and so on.

Clearly you know very little about what IQ is. NO country has an average IQ of "around 20". That would pretty much be a country of vegatables.
Those considered to be "mentally retarded" have IQ's around 60. There is no way a culture could survive with that average IQ.
I would hazard to guess that even yours is at least around 90-110 and my opinion of yours is not very high at the moment due to your comment.

We're also not talking about the internet based academic type tests that people on here take and brag about. Actual IQ tests have many aspects to them involving all areas including hands-on problem solving that have nothing to do with education level.

I'm not really all that surprised by the news. Many of the most intelligent people I've known have been women. I'm sure this news will not be well received by the neckbeard population of the internet that espouses male superiority since they can't find a date due to their lack of social graces and general ugliness.

Even so, the current IQ model, though decent, doesn't account for all the factors of intelligence.

It doesn't test for such things as intuitive grasp, and other factors.

We've examples all through history of artistic geniuses that were and in legacy still are considered artistic geniuses, but, in every other aspect and application of life show serious challenges.
There's niche specialists that peg 'genius' numbers on the current model, but at the same time are woefully ill equipped for many quite mundane every-day interactions and obstacles.

At the same time, there's polymathic types of several levels, some only testing average, but capable of picking up and doing practically anything, if only at average proficiency, but with the acumen of someone that's experienced where they've never even seen or had any experience with it before.

Intelligence is really a rather more complex issue that the current IQ model makes it out to be.

There's all kinds of intelligence where no different type is necessarily better than any other. There is of course higher demand for mathic, reasoning, and problem solving archetypes, of course, but, these are the known stereotypes the current model tests for.

Actually, since it's a measurement, it's normed and follows the bell curve, it's pretty much "scientific".

REAL IQ tests that is, not the little internet games.

The Papuan IQ is what it is, if you find their IQ level 64 to be insulting well then I can't help you.

The title says "Women are now smarter than men", this is misleading as it is basically saying women all over the world are smarter than men which is false. This is only a particular country and he should have referenced that instead he has tried to go for more stars and flags.

No, you didn't prove me wrong at all, in fact, you were blatantly wrong in what you said and contributed absolutely nothing. You can't "prove someone wrong" by stating an incorrect opinion that you hold, that's not how proof works.
Now if you would like to find data and link to it that proves the story that I quoted to be incorrect, have at it, but your OPINION on a news story hardly proves anything.
