I have to say I have a lot of difficulty in seeing this as a spade, why would you need these small spheres on a spade? I know in Egypt they worshiped a conical stone called the benben stone. What would be your take on the large poles either side of the ziggurat?

the small spheres are actually tassels, the same as you see on any ceremonial item, you can test the artists skill yourself on this matter, line out a 2" by 6" panel and try to replicate the details in that picture, you'll soon see why the artists use symbolisation rather than graphic detail, then try to copy the same image onto a cylindrical stone with a bronze engraving tool, difficult isn't it. I've actually tried this, I had the idea once that I could manufacture cylinder seals and sell them on ebay, but yanno, theres just no market for stone cylinders with childlike scratches on them
en.wikipedia.org...
The large poles that look like Lollipops are clearly representations of Assyrian standards, I'd like to see the original artifact that the drawing came from as it looks very much like a Sitchin (R.I.P.) illustration to me and Sitchin was well known for fabricating such details to match his dogma. Not that in this case theres anything unusual except the depiction of the Ziggurat itself which is artistically unusual, from their perspective ziggurats were symbolic mountains, so they generally depicted them using a stone effect detail. Ziggurats were symbolic heavens to the people of Mesopotamia, as they believed that the Gods resided on mountains very much the same way as the Greeks imagined theirs, which accounts for the shrine being on top. I'm mentioning this only because in reality Ziggurats looked nothing like that, it looks much more like a Judaeo christian representation of the Tower of Babel and so seems to have been influenced by a Judaeochristian mind. Of course, that didn't exist at the time, so it looks very fake to me, so I wouldn't be doing you any favours by not mentioning my reservations.
Take a look at a real ziggurat
sommerville88.files.wordpress.com...
would you draw a ziggurat like that illustration ?

Theres plenty of illustrations to compare the Assyrian lollipop standards with, some with much greater detail here (when the page loads, click on images)

I've never seen anything like it, take it to a museum which specialises in ancient Europe and I'm sure you'll get an answer, invariably the truth is that all the most competant experts don't post in internet forums.

I can tell you that its nothing to do with the ANE. Theres nothing Mesopotamian or Egyptian about it at all, the writing is too crude to be the product of a career scribe and the only people who could write were scribes who had years of training to reach that position

I've taken the liberty of posting it over here

Here is a similar device, conical device with two spheres coming out of the base at angles. I dont think the tent canopy explains this.

Actually also looks like an electrical spark is jumping off the top !

It is the same throughout time in Sumeria and Egypt and Central America ..

It is the Tree of Life.. The Djed ..the spark that stings like a snake ..The (winged) Orb or Eye is a Crystaline Technology.. The Gates being opened ...the field that looks like a bulls horns same in the Egypt Shu ..It is the component parts of the Tower It is represented in many ways ..
It records the connection with the gods .. the opening of the portals .. gates ..stairway to heaven ...........

I love this some one labeled this Sumerian Adam and Eve

The person in the middle appears to be demonstrating or operating something with their finger tips and pointing at the intended result. It is possible that this was a form of technology.

Ok I am not convinced that they are venerating a spade with tassels on it for a number of reasons.

Firstly the shape of this device if you are considering it to be a flat 2d object rather then a conical 3d object is impractical to dig with. It would be like trying to dig a hole using a spear tip.

Secondly if you look at the 3rd image posted by R0CR13 you can see another one of these devices on the left, only difference being that the tassels are defying gravity by pointing upwards.

Thirdly I am confused why the guy in the image where the spark/snake can be seen is so interested in the tassels at the base of this object.

Forth in the image below top right another of these devices can be seen only that the pole it is mounted on is the same width as the supposed spade blade. Now why would anyone make a spade handle so heavy?

Ok another one of these objects and it is becoming more difficult for me to believe that is a spade. Clearly the dragon is associated with these objects as it makes an appearance alongside these objects in almost every case I have seen.

You can blame Hans if you like, the last 20 times I have looked at things said here, have all been at his request.

Thanks a lot, Hans!

You had to drag him over here.

Now he's gonna explain away all the sparkly!

Oh Noes!

There were ALOT of them, and I mean a whole lot. Infact that we have only really seen a fraction to the whole of how many existed. For all we know there might really be one that shows a clear as day picture of an alien, but I dought we would be so lucky. So consider for a minute what I'm gettig at here, these tiny, tiny images should raise questions. Like, why in the world would they make them so small?

Why are your credit cards so small?

Great. Marduk is back. There goes the neighborhood.

In all seriousness, i do enjoy your input. Even if it makes me want to bang my keyboard.

Now, back to the debate. Since we have Hanslune, Harte, and Marduk, it seems that all we need is Byrd to make it a full quartet!

Well, I can't do the tenor or bass.

Baritone?

I'm glad to see him to. I've followed him to other forums, but I think, what with all the hooey on this one concerning Mesopotamia, here is where we have the most opportunity to learn from him.

I agree that trying to interpret these symbolic drawings from a modern perspective is a little difficult and questionable. Without knowing the cultural or historical context you're just setting yourself up for all kinds of misinterpretation. In a a few thousand years, what will people make of this odd, colorful figure?

His swollen, oversized feet and blood-red nose and mouth suggest some kind of illness. Perhaps his colorful clothing is a warning to others of his affliction. According to the historical fragments still surviving from the time, he was generally associated with both food and dying children. So it's reasonable to assume that he was most likely used as a kind of warning symbol to keep children away from contaminated food. The double-curve symbol remains a mystery, although it could be seen as a flying bird, two mountains, or possibly female breasts.

Of course, that's just my layman's interpretation.

Compare to the Tet of Osiris ... it describes the same thing .

1 Base =Earth=Mass the pyramid/tower itself

2 The ARK = Power Source ..Energy

3 The Djed column = Resistor power regulation

4 Horns or Hands Conductive support for the Eye (metallic)

5 The EYE was an artificial Crystal

6 The Field generated by the Crystal Orb (Aka the stairway, rope or ladder to heaven )

7 Denotes Energy Incoming (Feather of Ma'at to be maintained by the pharaoh without which chaos ensued)
note the horns which are also represented as hands somtimes as in the God Shu ..from Tuts head rest .

And the Tanit describes this machine in action ..do you see the parallels ?

The Tet describes the bulk of the internal workings ..

Honestly do you see a goddess ? A Tree ? a Crescent moon ?.. archaeologists are just people trying to describe what they find and usually trying to make it fit their perceptions based on their current culture .

.

So I'm in good company.. I guess ??? .. I have far more evidence than they did regarding these subjective interpretative assessments .

For some reason I think that bowl has something to do with Sun signs/astrology, maybe its a form of Irish ogham script?

Outside could be the 12-13 star signs whilst inside could be the 7 planets?

Well at the other forum, we have identified the writing as the gothic alphabet,
en.wikipedia.org...
which stunningly is the script used at Cheresones, the Crimean greek city where the object was allegedly excavated from. Sometimes things are obvious for a reason

now ref "the spade", I stated earlier that orthodoxy always refers to it as a spade, however I also stated that I didn't think that was correct and have always personally assumed it to be a spear. Their reason for calling it a spade is because whenever you see it, its normally next to the God Bel Marduk, who is an agriculture god. My reasoning for calling it a spear is that although Bel Marduk as creator of the planet earth has strong links to agriculture, he also became the head deity by killing the dragon Tiamat, have a guess what he used to accomplish that feat. Then when you've thought about that, have a read of the text yourself

As Tiamat opened her mouth to its full extent,
He drove in the evil wind, while as yet she had not shut her lips.
The terrible winds filled her belly,
And her courage was taken from her, and her mouth she opened wide.
He seized the spear and burst her belly,
He severed her inward parts, he pierced her heart.
He overcame her and cut off her life;

If you look at the pictures of the small dog type representation of Tiamat you'll see that in many cases it actually emerges from her body
this answers your question as to why a spade/spear tends to appear next to pictures of dragons. But you can go on thinking that its some kind of machinery if you like, you are perfectly entitled to your opinion, unsupported as that may be

Yes,and I have been following it on there.

Another poster,if you didn't receive my u2u,took the time to illustrate those symbols and script for better clarity.

Thanks to Druid42.
