First of all, stop watching TV/Media/News/Propaganda. The media accomplishes the task three ways. First by simply reporting on select "stories" that serve to benefit those in control. I'll take that bet any day of the week. If the US Military does it it's usually because some tribal (muslim) warlord gives "intel" that some "al queda" nitwit is in a village, but what's really happening is tribal warlord just wants to eliminate the opposition.

Sure. I don't want to take this thread too far afield, but the important point is that murder is wrong, even as a response to another murder. Von Clausewitz said that war is the continuation of politics by another means. I disagree. I prefer Adler's remark that war is not the continuation of politics with different means, it is the greatest mass-crime perpetrated on the community of man.
