My comments about Cuba's medical system are not a defense of Moore.

But.....

I'm just saying that Cuba does indeed have a very good medical program, given the confines of their society, both from their government, as well as outside forces.

You are just engaging in juvenile debate tactics to talk around a point, and associate an argument with anothet unrelated topic.

Michael Moore, and Cuba's Medical System ? Which both of you agree with ?

Is micheal moore a douchebag? Probably. Does that prove Cubas medical system doesnt work? No, obviously not.

I proved it for ya, even though your "visit" had no facts to be had.

Heres the proof again.

I merely said that your and Slayers argument that Cuba's medical system sucks because Haitian refugress dont go there is pathetic and juvenile, not to mention totally inaccurate.

We asked a question. A question you clearly spun, to fit into your tight little box. As for that, I bid farewell.

Need to check some clips, but I'm sure I heard recently that Cuba is considering opening its coastline to oil drilling, so maybe it's time set the scene for more openness.

In any case, I'm glad they're getting aid from a rich country.

The ANC was slammed by other SA parties recently for giving Cuba a huge aid package, and writing off their debts, all from a fellow Marxist party, while we have 40 percent unemployment and our people suffer in squatter camps, and the ANC plays the race card while it gives away our taxpayer's money to their personal friends and dictators.

Opposition parties have reacted angrily to the ratification of an agreement between South Africa and Cuba that will see a R350-million taxpayer-funded “economic assistance package” handed to the island nation. They say the money would have been better spent at home, and that public money should never be used to “prop up an anti-democratic and nepotistic regime”.

The National Assembly’s committee on trade and industry voted this week – by a single vote – to ratify the agreement, entered into after President Jacob Zuma visited Cuba last year.

The deal offers Cuba a R100m “solidarity grant” – which will not have to be repaid – and a credit line of R250m. Of the latter amount, Cuba will be given R40m to buy seeds – of which R5m must be spent on South African seeds – and a further R210m in tranched loans.

The latest aid package follows the government’s controversial decision last year to write off R1.1 billion in Cuban debts. DA trade and industry spokesman Geordin Hill-Lewis said on Thursday that the government “should not use public money to maintain the political friendship between the ANC and the Castro regime in Cuba”.

He also said the agreement came without any strings attached, placing no conditions on the Cuban government to “respect human rights or democratic governance”.

If Cuba had any decency it wouldn't accept that package from a fellow poor nation, unless it benefited both equally.

Might not be a trojan horse. Reports of cholera in Cuba are valid and this could be an attempt to mend old wounds through the distribution of medicine.

The trade embargo doesn't affect Cuba that much. Cuba can trade with the rest of the world. Cubas problem is the communist regime. Castros gamble that "social justice " could be realized by keeping any concept of economic liberty from his people are what lead to this. Cubas doctors are among the best in the world. Their healthcare system is not.

Didn't Moore make his movie and boasted about how wonderful the Cuban medical care was? Why do they need medical supplies?

Maybe because they're not so stingy as in the USA when they need to administer some drugs or a length of gauze. Perhaps they don't use the same syringes over and over again. The delivery of adequate medical care does require the use of supplies, you know.

LOL is there actually people on here arguing that Cuba's health care is not excellent? Compared to the US it is ahead is every measureable way. Higher life expectancy, lower infant mortality, more doctors and dentists per 100,000 people. It's pretty ridiculous that someone would argue that Cuba's health care is in any way inferior to the USA. Unless, of course, they didn't know all the facts.

More outright lies passing off as a headline for an ATS USA bashing thread.

How many of these hoax bin titles pass through is amazing.

Someone already pointed out that Cuba received a shipment in 2000 or 2001, so "First shipment in 50 years" is just another Al Jazeera wet dream.

Great catch I was about to post a similar link.

I think the cargo ship Captain and crew should then visit some of the wonderful state of the art resorts Cuba has to offer with World class food, entertainment and Casinos etc etc etc. Most Cubans are not allowed. Wouldn't want all them rich vacationers and people on Holiday to see how the real Cubans live.

Didn't Moore make his movie and boasted about how wonderful the Cuban medical care was? Why do they need medical supplies?

Not that I'm against them receiving anything they need. Personally I'm glad the Embargo was lifted. People are people. The Cold war is over. Let bygones be bygones....

I know I'll be watching where the famous overweight America hater goes for his triple bypasses and/or transplants. I hope FoxNews gets the scoop and publishes every penny all of us are going to have to pay for his gluttonous lifestyle.

It's about time...

Since Obama took office, the USA is the closest Communist neighbor Cuba has.
