Looks like the Israelis (of all folks) arte confirming they have assurances that the Assad regime is actually controlling and safeguarding the weapons.

Ya don't say? Well.....

I'll say I'm relieved... Always the off chance it wasn't the most logical thing that he turned out to be doing and with those, it would have been catastrophic. I'm guessing Tel Aviv called Damascus and said in no uncertain terms that Israel can start playing and getting stupid with Nuclear weapons if Syria wants to play with Chemical ones..so what gives? Sounds like they got a clear and very solid answer as to why the weapons are leaving the known bunkers and being secured elsewhere. Good... That should really lessen the chance that old or known security allowed them to be taken.

Did they spot a truck with a couple of 55 gallon drums on it? Are they as positive it's chemical weapons like Iran building nukes?

Yep sounds like the power brokers behind the scenes Russia/US are making sure nothing crazy happens with those weapons.

I think this confirms my first gut feeling which was that the Syrians are probably just taking preventative measures in relocating the WMD's since they've had a large number of Officers and Soldiers join the other side.

It's something we in the US world do if people with the keys and locations to the storerooms in which our arsenals were stored suddenly became members of Al-Q.

Change the access procedures, codes, locks and move the items to new locations unknown to the former officers.

Exactly. Dont tell the warmongers that though they are CONVINCED this means imminent firing of the missiles by Syria.

We see items like this on the "news' all the time. At no time is any evidence offered, plenty of allegation but no evidence. All the reporters do is repeat the rebels claims.

When the maintain stream media only reports from one side of the conflict you know immediately which side they are on.

Why do they not report the claims of the Talibain, or why did they not report from the perspective of the iraqi reistance fighters.

Why did the media not seek and report comment from the North Vietmanese.

Open your eyes mate.

Your post doesnt make sense in relation to the topic. The Syrian regime is being given credit for securing the weapons-they have said they have done so.

The Taliban tends to cut the heads off reporters... You could ask Daniel Pearl's widow about that. I don't think a reporter would go within miles of the Taliban without escort and controls in place after 9/11. Before that? They got interviewed as a Government..but I read accounts of some of those times getting a bit wild. Strange people...and then some.

The media did get the opinions of the North Vietnamese Government in Hanoi. That was one of the big divisive factors in the United States during the war. Jane Fonda, as some might recall, is rather well known for her trip to Hanoi during a media photo op campaign.

I'm not sure what the point is on this one, but Syria has had chemical weapons clear back into the 80's. It's been no big secret. It only got people pissed when they went to building a reactor. That got bombed...but they are one of the only nations not to sign the Chemical Weapons Treaty (which means they are actually legal with having and making the weapons..they never promised not to) and they've never denied a bit of it. They just don't confirm it any more than mst nations confirm or deny their most sensitive things.
