I've,like many, have held out hope that America might recover from this downward spiral.
Sadly,I no longer have any further delusions of hope.
I thought I'd try to chronicle America's decline in this thread.
Im only beginning this time capsule, and obviously wont provide everything.
Just starting it off with a few things.
So feel free to contribute any stories you wanna add.
This is not political.
This is not about Republicans or Democrats.
Nor Bush or Obama,
Its about America, and its current state.

That's a long, sad list to be sure. Like you, I held out hope myself.
I still have a glimmer of that hope and am not sure if I hang onto it because I really feel that way, or because I really want it to be that way. I
hope and pray we can pull back from the brink, but every day we seem to be closer to the edge of the cliff with nothing to stop us from going over it
just like Thelma & Louise.
It will take the people to save it. All the people. Not just a few groups. Not just a few outspoken folks on the corner with large signs. It will take
most all of us to bring America back...and the odds of that happening are pretty slim sadly.

You should add peaceful protesters getting beat, pepper sprayed, shot with rubber bullets and tear gas cans hitting people upside the head.
Thats an idea.
If you would like to add that, please do.
I only started this time capsule, but its not just my story or perspective to tell.
I leave it up everyone to add to this.
I've,like many, have held out hope that America might recover from this downward spiral.

I do have one small shred of hope left. It is the hope that people will realize they aren't stuck with that green paper that is losing value daily
and disappearing from our lives.
The banks print money (or make an entry on a data base) that is backed by nothing but our shrinking fast faith. Well, for God's sake people, put some
faith in yourselves and each other for a change and print your own damn money.
After scrolling through the video selection and reading a few replies, I thought about the guy who took the cyanide immediately after being found
guilty of burning down the mansion he could no longer afford.
I'm thinking about the few dozens events where someone who could no longer afford the lifestyle they'd become accustomed to and wiped out their
entire families and then burned down the home they lived in.
i suppose if a person is tired and has lost their sense of adventure...it may seem pretty bad. some people will think...18 million empty homes and
ghettos that need to be refurbished represent quite an opportunity for the future.
there is no doubt that perspective played a part in creating the environment that currently exists and perspective will play a part in how things work
out for people from this point forward.
no...whatever existed is not coming back...nothing even close to it. its been proven that what was is a losing model.
but its only a matter of time before hungry people emerge from the catastrophe and start all over again at something new.
I can't decide whether it was the slaughter of Indians, slavery, the civil war, the Spanish-American war, or world war one. But it was somewhere
around there that America missed out on being great, and started to fall into hopelessness. Propaganda seems to have covered it up for a while, but
the Internet has definitely helped in pulling off the mask of "greatness" for some.
Flash Mob Robbers Steal $3,000 from Chicago Store. What Happened to Happy Dancing?
(Yahoo.com)-People put a positive spin on the idea of mob mentality with flash mobs, happy groups that came together in a public place to surprise
crowds with choreographed dance moves and songs. Then came cash mobs, when well-intentioned consumers boosted sales at a local store by buying up
whatever was in stock. Now the flash mob has taken a sinister turn: A Chicago store owner says his shop is the latest to be robbed by a flash mob,
when a group of young adults showed up all at once and stole more than $3,000 worth of merchandise.
Okay, I was going to comment on the whole Walmart thing but then I remembered that they are the most dangerous and sickening corporation in America. I
couldn't care less what happens to Walmart. Every one of their stores could collapse to the ground tomorrow and I would cheer.
On the whole issue of the thread, it's a good idea to show how things are changing. Most people don't seem to see it. This is happening all over the
world too.
I was having a conversation with my sister here in the UK yesterday and we were talking about the prices of certain things have gone up, while the
weight of things has gone down. You might not have noticed it, but a lot of things are staying the same price or increasing while the value of the
product decreases in quality or amount.
A well known frozen food brand in the UK recently replaced all their "Cod Fillet" boxes with "White Fish" boxes, same design, same price, lower
quality and cheaper product - no one seems to have noticed the design or label changes.
The security issue is an interesting one. You'd have thought that killing Bin Laden, two wars and continuous attacks against "extremists" on foreign
soil, with all the fundamental security changes that things would have improved for the national security of America. But the police state continues
to grow, the militarization of the nation and police is marching on unmolested by any elected official. Obama has done nothing, zero, zip, to end the
police state that Bush began, he's extended its reach, increased the power the state has over the citizens.
I have a few videos to add, I don't know if they've been added here yet as I didn't get too far before I had to respond. Apologies if it has been.
Here is the Anaheim Police Department in their response to peaceful protests...
Here is what the people there are protesting about...
This is what caused it...
Manuel Diaz was shot in the back, incapacitated, detained, and THEN EXECUTED on the ground with a bullet to the back of the head. He was then left to
die on the ground, while the police cleared witnesses instead of providing medical assistance.
Police then tried to buy footage of these events from protesters in order to prevent them from being seen by America. Your MSM is assisting them in
this cover up - and that is why so few Americans know what is happening in Anaheim.
We've been discussing the issues of the social collapse for a while now on ATS, and the risk of social unrest is increasing with each passing day. I
am certain that within the next couple of years you will experience what we had in the UK last August with rioting across the country.
Why do I think this? Because the people are becoming more desperate, they are seeing more and more inequality, they have less and less to lose, the
police state needs to increase in response to that unrest, and the untrained cops overreact, which causes a greater sense of injustice, which creates
more protest, which creates more response...
Until eventually an officer somewhere in the USA opens fire with live rounds and starts the war.
Anaheim yesterday was the most concerning response I think anyone has ever seen. The police barricaded themselves in, they had snipers on the roof,
they had military-style weaponry and uniforms, and they attacked and snatched targets from the crowd. Few badge numbers were shown, no names given,
anonymous military thugs kidnapping people without stating a reason for arrest.
This also happened in two other states with protesters fired upon by police on the same day.
Previous Occupy events have been targeted by the DHS controlling and directing local law enforcement, dictating dates of eviction, changing laws,
removing citizens rights on a whim in a coordinated effort from one city to the next. They are now doing the same in this instance in response to all
protest.
America, you are no longer free. If you think you are, it's just because you haven't found a reason to protest yet. When you do, you'll get exactly
the same treatment from your own militarized police goons.
