Can I Call Someone Out On ATS?

Am I ever allowed to straight up call a person out on ATS? No, no, no... I know what you're thinking! lol



Not a fist fight, not a scratch and meow... rather a straight up verbal ***** smack. I'm not sure if these individuals are paid to spread this crap, if they are truly that dense... or anything of the sort. For real, there are a couple... who in the face of denied ignorance, continue to spout crap that amounts to wasted space on ATS!

It's not a waste for someone to be incredibly wrong, but to stick to the same nonsense after being straight up denied, I mean cmon. These particular individuals even have a consistent history of OP's that completely take everything out of context, spew hate, and basically contribute nothing of worth to ATS.

I get it, this is a public forum... are there no T&C's that apply here? Can I seriously just post whatever hateful junk I want, get denied, and then still continue? Then do this over and over and over, until finally just about every single one of my posts is responded to by individuals that see right through me?

What does it take to get on the debate forum? I suppose I could read and find out myself, but I'd like to know from someone who has experience with it.

There's not much more I can say, with out hinting towards who these individuals are. I'm not asking for the right to personal attacks, just rather the ability to outline consistency of destructive behavior and 'trollery'(lol).

Not in the way you mean, I don't think. Using persuasive arguments backed by facts without being personal or emotional is a far superior way to get your point across. For example, rather than say, "You're an idiot for believing in that global warming crap!" it might be better to say something like, "Recent statistical studies are showing that global warming is probably not happening at all. Here's an article in Nature...."

Schuyler is right, fractal. You cannot "call somebody out" on this site. If you're itching for a verbal fight, there are many internet sites in which you can do just that, no holds barred.

If you want to debate, the correct way is by laying out your case with logic and whatever backup sources you can find. Just calling somebody an idiot for their viewpoint, no matter how misguided, just doesn't cut it on ATS.

We try to adhere to a higher standard here. Are you up to the challenge, or would you rather have a schoolyard brawl?

You could U2U them; but you still have to not swear etc. I think most likely the debating forum is your best bet...but are the people you are annoyed with capable of a good debate?

No doubt, that's exactly why I brought up the debate forum!

I could care less about calling someone names... this is a public forum right? Well, should the public then not be aware of the members who consistently mislead them? Who consistently distort facts and spin data, even when they've been proven wrong?

Statistical studies are 90% right, 10% of the time...

No, I don't think you understand what I'm referencing... I'm the first person to point out the subjectivity of any given stance, position, or understanding of just about everything. Yet, there are many issues and/or aspects of particular topics that essentially are not up for debate. One of which is the purposeful pulling out of context!

I'm talking, beyond view point... I can't even make this stuff up, so I'm not going to try to... and if I dare point out an example, I don't want any backlash.

People keep bringing up the word idiot, lol... when did I say such? I'm talking, intentional fear mongering rhetoric, or rather... classic playing on peoples ignorance when they have made statements that accurately contradict what they have said. Then... when brought to their attention, either no response... or more of the same ole' crap.

There is one member that always lies. I got so fed up over it once I created a thread. I didn't even mention their name but it was so obvious because this person was well known for committing the acts I was calling them out on.

My thread got the 404.

I don't believe they let us call people out, even though I wish they did as long as it's done in a respectful manner I honestly don't see a problem with it.

You can send negative karma their way...

Never mind, that against the T&C's.
