I know this was posted back in June, but I feel it deserves its own thread, since it looks lke it's a done deal now. It's being hammered out in New York at the UN this month and is expected to pass muster.

UNITED NATIONS – A treaty being hammered out this month at the United Nations -- with Iran playing a key role -- could expose the records of America's gun owners to foreign governments -- and, critics warn, eventually put the Second Amendment on global trial.

International talks in New York are going on throughout July on the final wording of the so-called Arms Trade Treaty, which supporters such as Amnesty International USA say would rein in unregulated weapons that kill an estimated 1,500 people daily around the world. But critics, including the National Rifle Association’s Wayne LaPierre, warn the treaty would mark a major step toward the eventual erosion of the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment gun-ownership rights.

They can't take over the world if we all own guns, right? They've been hammering out a way to get the guns out of American's hands for a long time now, and this looks like this is the way they're going to do it.

The brazeness of Obama, who supports this treaty, truly amazes me on a daily basis. We are in big trouble people.

America is over.

Here comes One World Government.

I don't really like fear mongering... but, look what a history of gun control has done to over 100 million people in the past century.

Another advertisement for the firearms industry.

I shoulda been a salesman, lots of victims here.

Why don't they just put up regular ads for guns, like Viagra or something?

Just to clarify, I am a gun owner.

I am not scared. You can not scare me. I have no fear of this treaty.

I don't need more than one. I will not buy another.

But, I actually think. Not your target audience.

Some additional reading:

Constitutionality of gun ownership.

international law can't supersede the constitution even if the administration or the senate wanted it to.

Obama allowed for protections of domestic gun ownership

that language was added in 2009!

google is your friend.

NOT!
My rights can not be taken, only I can give them away.
I never give anything away.
I do see Iran being used here though...

Rights can not be taken? Actually they can be. The only way people know of their rights is through education. Take away that education and people will not know that they have rights for how can a person ahve rights if they don't know about them?

And even then, if they do know, they still can be infringed upon through the authorities of denying people their rights. It happens all the time.
