ok look at this with this background... what do you think? or should we just go with a background color without any design?

If someone was willing to help me out, I would be very appreciative!

I want....

as the background... then layered over it, somewhat transparent, with the center circle being centered over the sun

It would be awesome if the transparency level could fade in relation to the center of the circle and the sun(for the penrose tiling layer)

I would do this on my own, but I have lost my copy of photoshop... and don't care to pirate the software.

Thank you in advanced if someone tackles this!

Please PM me if you take on this challenge!

I would try an all-black background (Go the kiwis) - will give the image a "picture-frame" effect and pack a better punch!!

It will look similiar to mine which also makes the text stand-out as well.

Can you explain how to use the transparency feature?

Do I apply it before or after I layer it?

You want the edges to have more transparency than the center right?

By the time it gets re-sized you lose all detail in the center.

This is layered only with no other adjustments yet

As much as I love the Avi pic you found for me Sublimecraft....alas, ATS doesn't. This mssg just came in. Unless I can get it modified, I won't be able to use it.....I hadn't a clue that a painting, not a photo would push that button.

Mssg I just got.

Please change it. The bare buttocks is not in compliance with the T&C regarding avatars and background images.

Thank you,

This might be difficult, I'm not all that great at explaining these things off the top of my head and it's been a while.

1st, enlarge the image of the penrose tiling(keep ratio if possible)

2nd, center it over the sun(you basically did this)

well... see, this is where it gets tough lol, because there's a couple ways of going about this...

You can either create a pattern using the tiling image, and simply airbrush it on

or

When layered, use an eraser tool and adjust the strength of it, slowly making it more and more transparent

But I suppose, this all matters on which version of photoshop you are using. To accomplish this, may take someone with a good amount of experience with their particular program.

I know, I might have lead you down a rabbit hole with this one, because there is more than one way to skin this cat. If someone more proficient in explaining this can help, please do so.

Also, there are 1000's of tutorials online, many on youtube if you truly want to get a real good feel for what your doing.

Keep up the great work, once you get it down... you will become addicted!

I used to spend countless hours on photoshop creating some of the most amazing images, sadly, I don't have the same computer anymore, and didn't back up any of my images!!!

I once made an aerial view image of a rocket coming from a ship, rising over the clouds during a sunset, it was to die for!(no pun intended) Ah, great memories!

additional statement:

Yes I want the edges to be seamless, also, a fade to white boarder might be a nice touch

I'm using GIMP 2, I've only been using it for 3 days now. I'm still trying to learn.

It's free software. They do have an option for pixel transparency.

I'm not sure about eraser strength yet. I will try looking for that and see what I can come up with.

I'm just practicing so I can learn how to use it. I'm sure Agarta can make it much better than I can.

I'll give it a try. You can download the software I'm using for free .... www.gimp.org...

You guys put in a lot of effort towards making your avatars.

I made this one due to severe boredom and not using Photoshop for over 5 months, too bad I lost all my plugins.
