The way I finally figured it out was to open the gif, then resize it. Then I duplicated it and cut out everything that wasn't the "avatar" in that duplicated file and cut the layers down to the animation layer for the positioning so it could be altered in whatever way you wanted and relayered into the original that I saved as a merged copy.... if that makes any sense

VERY helpful stuff there and I may put those graphs into my template once I figure out how. I suspect there are probably 10 million tutorials on Google showing how to make a Photoshop alignment template. Thanks for taking the time to post.

EDIT: You summed it up well for me thank you.

I just need to locate the position of the pixel coordinates to cut out the avatar from the BG so that they will match up perfectly when loaded onto the ATS profile.

This image is the one that caught my eye because it has been so long time since I last used Photoshop and I realized that I have forgotten most of what I knew about working with transparent and animated images.

You are very welcome!! I actually used gimp, so there may be some adjustments to be made, but tried to line out what I did. ... a bit of trial and error works well

Not sure about the pixel alignment, I'd have to go back in and figure that one out. I'm just too impatient to look for the tutorials .... I need to work a bit on the impatience

The hypothetical situation is: a member who is a UFO enthusiast asks for an avatar that represents him as someone who is searching for proof of UFOs. He says he has had an abduction experience but can't remember details of it and feels a "connection" to them. He spends a great deal of time searching the night sky hoping to sight another one after his experience but has not been successful. He wants it to show "hope" for alien contact and believes them to be inheritantly good and sent her to help us

Thank-you...that was fun to see....great entries by all....my favorite is still IPM's.....great color, captured the theme, lol, incorporated ATS logo...and the Monsanto reference is very "deep".......I think he hit it out of the park......



LOL...is there any way to slow my fish down IPM? I think it's fun to have some aniimation.....but Chiten, that bird flying around, and my fish swimming back and forth is a "distraction"...that I think is too intense.....I liked your chicken peeking from the side lines....but perhaps too much distraction from our avatars and signatures may discredit the content of our posts?

It took me over an hour to make that.

And I had to upload it to photobucket to get it to work on ATS.

I can make it so the fish don't move at all and it's just a picture.

you can try exporting it and select cumulative layers and a lapse of 800 milliseconds and it may slow it down without doing a lot of extra work... worth a shot

I don't see how that would be true. If the votes were hidden and counted that would be one thing but the votes are the stars and anyone can view and verify. But that's just my opinion,
