I'll have to send you my two for some inspiration then. After a week of 30 degree sunshine it's pouring today

It was like pulling teeth getting them to school today, maybe I could get some pointers...

I (the chiten) tell kids to save the chiten a seat on the bus... then of course he's way too short and the driver doesn't see him, so he doesn't get picked up and he has to fly to "skewl". It's pretty rough on the poor little chiten


It helps having other teacher friends who play along too... they say they had to send the chiten to the office or they'll call "purple chiten" while taking role and other things. We have a blast with it! There are teachers at about every school in the county that play along. The kids have a million "conspiracy theories" about who the chiten is, none of them have the slightest idea

heck, some of the teachers who play along have no idea!


I even have kids in the college classes I teach who know the chiten. It's been going on for almost three years now

Just a suggestion due to the 111 pages on this thread and that will climb.

Start a new thread with a request for no replies, title it "Avatars for Dummies" and put an instructional tutorial on page 1 that has the basics on it. Then when someone like me needs the basic info you can refer to that thread, leaving this one for the great work on photo manipulation. Cross link both threads. This would save a lot of replies.

I am not a lazy person, but 111 pages is just a bit much for any one to go through IMO.

OK, thanks, still I was hoping for a thread that had a no-replies request, somewhere where just the information was presented. It could be occasionally updated with tutorials on what is possible on photo manipulation etc. All replies by members having problems would occur in this thread rather than chocking the instructional thread.

Just my thoughts, I am more than happy to help with the threads creation and maintenance and a discussion with the mods. I am thinking of getting the instructions right on this thread, then a quick copy to the other thread and have the mods put up a thread closed once it is completed.

Another forum I am on is also a great community and they have a separate area for 'how to do' that can not be replied to.

On the other hand the thread you pointed to has everything in it, it is slightly disjointed due to replies.

You could always ask, but there are heaps of threads on how to place avatars already. The ATS search gives you pages of options straight off.

Rising Against, an ATS Mod put an awesome amount of work into the Frequently Asked Questions thread here, which is one of the best places to go for anything ATS.

The one Cassandra did that I posted earlier I found personally the easiest to digest when I was a new member, but when I went to the full sized background avatar someone here in this very thread helped out to get it right, both in design and placement.

It's up to you, but I feel there's plenty of help available out there already from the creation of a personal piece of artwork here in this thread to get it up and running in your avatar space.

And of course we still need to teach ML how to embed youtube videos properly...



Sorry but it's still raining here....

Go to youtube and highlight just this bit in the http title and right click on copy;


Then hit youtube vid at the top of the page here;


Then when it gives you this box, right click and hit paste and then ok;


If you want to check it worked hit "preview" the video should appear.

Try it out....
