Avro Vulcan and Red Arrows, page

Farnborough Airshow treated plane enthusiasts to a truly thrilling sight: the world's only airworthy Avro Vulcan bomber performing a flypast in formation with the Red Arrows.

A relic of the Cold War, the historic plane was the first of its kind to be delivered to the RAF, on the 1st of July 1960, and the last Vulcan to leave RAF service in 1993.

Heard the Tornado recently took its last flight not long ago, hopefully one or two will be kept in good shape like that Vulcan for airshow purposes. Doubt any of them would ever make it to the states for many shows but one can hope.

Good picture and i bet that the Lancaster was flying as fast as it could with the pilot almost having his eyeballs dislodged from rattling about

Its only the Tornado F3 thats retired. The GR4 continues to fly.

The F3s are being broken for spares.

Nah - according to this account by a vulcan display pilot from 2009 they mostly never flew above 180kt in 2008, but occasionally went to 300kt in 2009.

Ah good, didnt think there was a replacement ready for the GR4 just yet but i guess the Typhoon has phased out the F3 for the air to air roles.
