Those were the days..

Gone were the days of the VHS player and Gone were the days of the chunky ass T.Vs..

Gone were the days of the Sega Megadrives the SNES and the Gameboys.

Gone were the days of our age.

Gone were the days of the Nokia 3320 and a time were kids played outside plenty..

Gone were the days where play parks were paved.

Gone were the days of the teenage mutant ninja turtles and power rangers without suits that are 'gay'..

Gone were the days of band music in the charts.. gone were the days where real talent plays.

Gone were the days of the trippy hippies who learnt to get along and not hate.

Gone were the days where for £10 you could get a crate! Where for a few quid you could get a pack of smokes and if you came home late, or completely baked, your mother was irate. I miss those days

Now look where we are, in this day and age.. on the path to self destruction, are we on the right page?

I dream of a time when a dime is a dime and we are not forced to be slaves..

I fail to see the scientific point in this other than technology has changed social interaction and other things over the last 20+ years...

The reason its like this is very simple. From an early age, we are told to grow up and stop dreaming, to make money as though nothing else matters and that life is not fair. There are less and less dreamers in positions to spread the dream. People have lost vision and just follow others.

Sure there are the hidden gems, but they never become mainstream.

Geez, that sounds like the worst park ever. No wonder so many people out there seem to have brain damage They are climbing monkey bars over a blacktop.

At least out here all this dirt we have was put to use cushioning our falls.

In all seriousness, and not to dump on your thread....but poetry belongs in "Creative Writing". Boncho's confusion is understandable. He basically went to church only to hear a baseball game being announced.

Hah, good catch! OP, why is paved play parks a good thing?
Sounds like a recipe for spinal injuries and head trauma if you ask me.

It was a play on how extreme the nanny state is. That is why the example was extreme.
