So I was reading this article:

An Israeli parliamentary committee has denounced a ruling in Germany banning ritual circumcision, saying the decision evokes memories of the Holocaust.

A regional court in Cologne recently ruled that circumcising young boys for religious reasons amounts to bodily harm, even if parents agree to it. Circumcision of baby boys is a fundamental Jewish religious ritual.

www.theaustralian.com.au...

So I was thinking about it...
The baby is too young to say he's okay or not okay with it, he can't even speak
In fact even a toddler wouldn't understand perhaps the concept of pain

There's no medical research showing the benefits of it, so why do it?
At least I have not found any

I wonder if religious people or books want circumcisions is because the foreskin is where most of the nerve receptors are and they don't want you to enjoy it too much that way sex will more be only for reproduction.

Thoughts?

It's child abuse.

It's abuse at any age actually.

So, yeah, banned, outlawed and criminilized as far as I'm concerned.

Regarding the research, there's a TON of it for why you should NOT do it, under any circumstances.

YES!

And those who perform it should be locked up.

Religion is no excuse for abuse.

The little green pixy that lives under the bush in my garden says we should cut the popes head off. Same logic, but I agree with the pixy.

it should be banned the world over, if it is that important to the jewish people then they can hop a flight to israel and have it done there, where does it state in the texts that to become jewish they must remove the foreskin.
I expect that the people who had it done will argue for it, but hey, they dont know what they are missing, us uncut lads have the best of both worlds

Obviously, cutting off pieces of someone's body should be their choice, and no one else's.

Do uncircumcised appendages cause health issues?

If they don't, then let the child keep it. Should the day come when they decide they want it removed, then take it off. I really don't understand why someone would question it though...circumcision is a religious practice for the most part. Anything else, and it's pure convenience. I have not yet met a man who has held a grudge against his parents for having him circumcised as an infant. Pretty sure all my friends are grateful, actually...

Just to make sure I understand, you don't mean should be the parent's choice right?

I'm sorry, when was the last time you saw an article in the news saying, "Child Dead From Infected Circumcision"?

I'm failing to see how it's a health concern. Nobody I know ever suffered from health issues after being circumcised as a child.

Is it also child abuse for parents to pierce the ears of infant girls?
Just curious what you think.

Until the child is old enough to make up its own mind definately YES.
A child is not a christmas tree for the parents to hang sparkly objects on.

I know this wasn't directed towards me, but these are two monumentally different things.

One is permanent.

One is not.

One is mutilation of sexual organs.

One is not.

I just wanted to make a point about throwing "child abuse" charges around.
Do infants have rights or not?

My cousin elected circumcision at age 17 due to convenience and cleanliness issues.

Of course, maybe he had poor hygiene to begin with.

So what are those of us who are circumsized missing out on?

P.s. I never even understood the concept of a foreskin until I heard about my cousin!

I could tell you but they'd probably close the thread, so I'll just say there is a lot of pleasure to be had. I'd be realy pee'd of if I had to lose mine.

I was circumcised as a baby and the experience has haunted me my whole life..

Come on now, show me an article about babies dying from circumcisions, then I might think its a bad idea.
IMHO I'd way rather be circumcised as baby then later on in life when I'll actually remember the experience
