America’s rich are renouncing their citizenship at record levels — just to get richer.

Startling new data from Uncle Sam show that defections by Americans are expected to double this year, largely to avoid any stiff tax bills resulting from the proposed 55 percent hike on the rich — as well as the likely expiration on Dec. 31 of the Bush era tax cuts.

As many as 8,000 US citizens are projected by immigration officials to renounce in 2012, or about 154 a week, versus 3,805 in 2011, or about 73 per week.

“High-net-worth individuals are making decisions that having a US passport just isn’t worth the cost anymore,” said Jim Duggan, a lawyer at Duggan Bertsch, which specializes in protecting assets of the wealthy.

Ever dream of leaving it all behind and heading out of America? You’re not the only one. A new study shows that more US citizens than ever before are living outside of the country. According to statistics from the US State Department, around 6.4 million Americans are either working or studying overseas, which Gallup says is the largest number ever for such statistic. The polling organization came across the number after conducting surveys in 135 outside nations and the information behind the numbers reveal that this isn’t exactly a longtime coming either — numbers have skyrocketed only in recent years. In the 24 months before polling began, the number of Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 living abroad managed to surge from barely 1 percent to over 5.1 percent. For those under the age span wishing to move overseas, the percentage has jumped in the same amount of time from 15 percent to 40. While the United States of America was at one point (and largely still is) a magnet for foreigners in search of work, the statistics makes it clear that an opposite trend is quickly picking up steam. "There's a feeling among more entrepreneurial Americans that if you really want to get anything done, you have to get out of country and away from the depressing atmosphere," Bob Adams of America Wave tells Reuters. “There's a sense of lost direction, so more people are looking for locations that offer more hope about the future.

That shows that rich people are avoiding paying their taxes. It's also a highly opinionated FOX article. LOL.

It doesnt prove your claim that all the 'innovative' people are leaving, or that the only immigrants are 'mexicans'.

Atlas Shrugged is fiction. It doesnt prove your claim.

Nothing in that link cites your claim that all the innovative people are leaving, either.

You shoud work more on facts, and less on insults.

You keep posting links that in no way prove your claim that all the 'innovators' are leaving the US and the only people immigrating are "Mexicans", almost like you cant prove your claim at all. Why is that?

this is the game they like to play.. They are going to constantly run around the issue while attacking you because they cant refute the facts.

You are better off walking away from them instead of trying to argue with them.. You will get a better response from banging your head against a brick wall with spikes than from the people your talking to.

The OP set the tone by once again misleading by inlcuding information in the title that is no where in the article. The op's followers jumped on it because they dont worry about things like facts and supporting evidence.

Walk away and dont look back.

That must be why you came back to attack them personally. Hypocrisy at its best!

Why didn't YOU just stay away?

Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle is a innovative individual who is a US citizen. He just purchased the entire island of Lanai in Hawaii, (Absolutely stunning place) .

Donald Trump is one hell of a entrepreneur, and he still lives here......

I don't think your argument is valid that all innovators, and entrepreneurs are leaving the states. That is non-sense.
