Happy Prepping! [LEWC]

Sitting there wondering whether or not he was ready for TEOTWAWKI, he asked himself “can a person ever be ready for something like that?” The answer was no.

Although he had spent several thousand dollars on survival gear, firearms, ammunition, bullion, traps and a few months of food stores, he still didn’t feel he had enough. The years of preparation had seen many ups and downs between him and his wife. She thought it was a waste of money, and he just wanted to protect his family. His family at this time was made up of him, her and a beagle that was scared of balloons.

His mind wandered to how the beagle was going to adjust to the harsh times ahead, and if she would even notice. Aside from a change in her diet, and having stinky owners, he didn’t think she would. In fact she would probably enjoy the new scents of her owners.

They lived in a small town on the Great Plains. He had been trying to slowly train his girlfriend, now his wife, in self-defense and survival for the past few years. She had taken a liking to some small caliber firearms, and was a great shot. She also had been helping to buy a couple extra canned or dry goods every week for the past couple of years now.

Many of his friends thought he was “crazy” for preparing as much as he did. After much criticism a lot of them eventually took up small scale prepping, and started to see what the world was coming to.

Even though he doubted his preparations, he was just happy that he was able to have as much as he did. After watching shows on TV, like “Doomsday Preppers”, he realized that he might just have the right amount for what he planned on doing in case of a global collapse.

He had planned for a couple of different options. The first option was what some might call “Bugging In”, but what he commonly referred to as “hanging out”. He had enough supplies to get his “family” through a couple harsh months and stay inside defending their house if needed. The second option was “Bugging Out”, this option was for extreme measures only. He had packs, camping gear and all the other stuff you could think of to leave and survive off the land. He would have to leave some things behind, but unlike the people he saw on TV, wouldn’t have to leave enough behind to supply a small country.

Upon the realization of these few scenarios, he was content in what he had done…

I don't think anyone could prepare enough, without knowing for sure how everything is going down.

Yeah, I agree. I don't think someone can ever be fully prepared for something like that, but you have to know where to draw the line. Thanks for the input.
