ABU DHABI — A pipeline the UAE is building to pump oil from east coast terminals and bypass the Iran-threatened Strait of Hormuz will be fully operational in August, an Abu Dhabi oil official said Tuesday.

The Habshan-Fujairah pipeline, which will carry oil from fields in Abu Dhabi on the Gulf to Fujairah on the Gulf of Oman, is "approaching the phase of continuous operation," said Ali Jarwan, CEO of oil and gas producer, Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Co ADMA-OPCO.

"We expect that by August we'll have regular flow of oil," Jarwan said at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).

UAE Oil Pipeline

I don't know if there is any meaning behind this, but could this be what TPTB have been waiting for? I guess we will have to wait and see until the pipeline is fully functional. What do you guys think? We have all been talking about an attack on Iran for years now, but this could make it easier for TPTB to justify such an attack. That way the supply of oil isn't completely shut off by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the ensuing war.

Waiting for?
You mean, so they can bypass and ignore iranian threats?
I think it's a smart move all around.

Question. If the oil bypasses the SOH where does it come from? Who's at the other end of the pipe and what happens when they decide to stop feeding the pipe?

Dont get me wrong, it's an ingenious tactic, i'm just a bit crude on the lay of the land.

Couldn't they just attack the pipe line instead of closing the Strait?

Habshan–Fujairah oil pipeline

Habshan–Fujairah oil pipeline, also known as Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline (ADCOP), is an oil pipeline in the United Arab Emirates. It starts from the Habshan onshore field in Abu Dhabi and runs to Fujairah.

[edit] History

The pipeline was ordered by the International Petroleum Investment Company in order to increase the security of supply and reduce oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz. The conceptual design of the pipeline was completed in 2006 by Tebodin, and the construction related contracts were awarded in 2007. Construction of the pipeline started on 19 March 2008.[1] It was completed in March 2011.[2] However, its commissioning was postponed several times[3] and it became operational in June 2012.[4]

Yep, they could if suicidal...

If they attack UAE (a VERY SAMLL country) they will look like bullies and nutsos.

Probably even China will bomb Iran in that case

Didn't Halliburton move it's headquarters to Dubai. Maybe they are part of a future of bypassing the strait for all US/Europe targeted oil. Maybe more pipes are in the works.

Edit:

Seems like all oil producers north of the strait would make deals with each other to create pipelines and bypass the strait. Why keep living with that problem.

Closing the Strait can be seen in certain circles as justifiable because of all the sanctions but still controversial. Attacking the pipe line would be seen as a blatant act of war.

Don't worry because if they don't give us a reason to attack we will just create our own reason then make it look like they did it. The US did not push troops all the way into that area just to leave empty handed and this plan was laid out 10 years ago.
