Big Mountain type Cloud..Scary...

So here´s the deal, my cousin lives a few kilometres from me, he phoned me about one hour ago totaly scared telling me he couldn´t see a thing on the street or anywhere.I went to my window and looked to where he lives just to found out that a huge cloud was on street level, i can´t even see the houses where he lives.
The funny thing is that there´s 2 clouds..1 at sky level and another at street level (like a big mountain) in the middle you can see the sun and the blue sky.I took my phone and filmed it,(Sorry for the bad image,if there´s a way to improve it please tell me)

Anyone knows what this phenomenom is?

the video won't play for me. if i click play it opens another window and makes it look like an image of a video (including play button). clicking on that doesn't do anything.

I´ve just filmed it again (half hour later) and it seems bigger..

F&S...very strange looking clouds for sure. I'm no expert, so haven't a clue if it's a normal formation. I'll wait for the experts to chime in. What did your cousin say about it...has he ever seen anything like it before, and where is it located.

He has never seem nothing like that, neither have i.He is totally scared and says he cant even see the street from his window.I asked him if it was fog and he says that that´s not fog...He also says that the air in the cloud is totally humid and hard to breath..

Just weird..

I´m turned on the tv to see if it is on the news or something..

Note: I´m in Portugal..Lisbon.

That's two layers clouds, one is fog cloud type (or ground cloud, called "nimbus) and another is a higher level cloud, such as strato-cumulus cloud

Looks like fog rolling in on a cloudy day, we get that all the time in the SF bay area.

i can see the videos now. very strange. while it's not unheard of i do think it's weird that it's so thick and hard to breathe. fog is VERY humid and i've been in THICK fog..... the kind where you can't see more than a few feet ahead. it does feel very very weird but i don't think it's anything to worry about. i would think there would be reports of heavy fog on the news though.

Man that's some pretty intense fog (or low cloud). We get something like that around here, usually around summer time, and it can limit vision to within 20 to 30 meters or so. The breathing issue might just be your mate panicking?

It almost looks like a sandstorm coming in.
Not sure what it is that would make breathing difficult.
You're not near any volcanic activity or anything, are you?

But this is not in an elevated or mountain area..And i´ve lived here for 30 years and never saw something like this..

I can't play the video but saw still image.
Most likely fog. It can hang low suspended in the air like clouds.
Are you at a higher elevation than your cousin,?

If they are having trouble breathing...they should go to a hospital. Maybe something is going on and the hospital is getting calls and people coming in. You should google the number for the local news, call and see if other people are calling in. Tell them you have a video you can send them...
