Hello all!

I just came across this article that i found interesting and thought i would share it with you.

Carla is a video-projected "virtual assistant" who helps passengers at the main security checkpoint in Logan's international terminal know what to take off and toss out before being screened.

She's got tips for getting through security, a warm personality, and she speaks two languages. But don't ask her any questions. Source

They mention in the article that several other airports such as Washington Dulles and other in New York will also get 'avatars' as they call them. I believe these are simply a trial for the moment, but if they are well received by the public we might start seeing more of these pop up in public places.

I also find it interesting that they mention "She doesn't replace any staff"... In the future though, will these types of holograms with advanced AI technology actually be able to replace us in some positions?

Still, it just goes to show how far we have gone with this technology. This is just what is publicly available also, i'm sure the military probably has hologram systems decades ahead of what you and I are allowed to see.

Pretty cool...

What would be even cooler, is if they could make the TSA agents virtual...

Cool. People could get 'virtually' molested by the TSA instead.

Wow, I just came across this video of the Black Eyed Peas (i advise you press Mute if you are going to watch) which shows the 3D/holographic effect pretty well..

Imagine that?
What will be the grounds of law suits/complaints against the TSA then?

It's a virtual molesting, where you gotta stand there and pretend it's a real TSA person groping you.

Probably 'cyber bullying'

Damn. Talk about virtual molestation and groping...how would the victim describe the sensation of the person's hands. It can very well turn into a fantasy court

Explain video projected..

Does she take up real 3D space like a hologram or is she on some screen or monitor?

I don't believe they take up real 3d space yet. Carla is projected onto a transparent screen and so is the The Black Eyed Peas hologram which worked like the Tupac one at Coechella.

The image is projected on a thin screen by LED projectors. But i assume we aren't far away from real 3D holograms.

Here is the Tupac hologram
