Sorry just have to rant for a minute, Hopefully it does not take on a racist overtone. I have never been a racist.

Let me start with my entire view of who America is has been rocked in the last year. Perhaps people that buy Groupons (half off deal site) are not indicative of all of America but I have to say that doing business with Groupon clients has been a serious eye opener.

So on to the Ranting.

80% of all these deal clients are rude, pushy and entitled beyond reason.
80% of all these deal clients are simply STUPID! Perhaps being of a generally lower economic class means this is not their fault, they are just a product of stupid parents.
Read the DAMN limitations BEFORE you buy the freaking thing! And when you screw up and don't read them? Don't blame the vendor for your own DAMNED stupidity.
When you don't show up on time and it specifically says being late will result in a Groupon being voided? Don't Blame the vendor for your own STUPIDITY.

Did I mention this yet? 50% read halfway through the expiration date and call pissed off. My answer is simply to ask them the next four numbers after the month and day. They get to the month and day and never read the freaking year! At least I get to point out their stupidity on this one.

And now for the racist part, I have sold to people of all walks of life, all ethnicity's and all ages. After this experience I will never EVER visit India or do business with anyone from India. 99% of all of the Indians I have dealt with have been rude, pushy, entitled, cheap, demanding beyond reason and worst of all? Thankless. I hold their very lives in my hands and they could give a crap. It is infuriating.

I would NEVER visit or live in someone else's Country and behave like these people behave in mine. If I were to treat them in their Country like they treat me in mine, I would fully expect to get my butt handed to me on a platter, at the very least beaten senseless and sent home.

It is my conclusion that the kind of people (80%) that buy Groupons may just be one of the lowest forms of life in America. If this is an example of who this Country is we are sooooooo screwed!

Thanks rant off.

I was unaware groupon held a gun to peoples head to sign up for the marketing service.

If your business needs groupon for more customers, perhaps there is a customer service problem with the attitude of the employees.

I hear these Groupon horror stories, and my first thought is why'd you sign up if you didn't want the type of buisness that only goes to places with super cheep deals...

Dammit. Now I have to go Google groupons and see what the hell they are!

Oh. Here it is: Wikipedia: Groupon

Well no surprise people are so stupid about it! It's sounds like the dumbest, most complicated g--d--- way to make money anybody ever thought up! Good luck, buddy....

In my business Groupon has been extraordinarily profitable. There has been a return rate of under 20%. I have zero complaints about the money that can be made. That is why I signed up. However my rant was not about either my marketing, customer service or need for more business. It was about the type of people that use them. I do not make snap decisions so it took about a year to post this little rant.

Thanks for the kind thoughts though...... You are a scholar and a gentleman

Having owned a business, I can understand your frustration completely, and actually never thought you were complaining about the concept of groupon just the clientele it attracts and how they interact with the vendor....Besides, against what the poster above stated, your post had nothing to do with your decision to do it.....Business owners take chances, it is what makes a business flourish or fail....and we don't know if you did this for a trial basis or for years, just that you had a negative experience with the clients. That being said....and i won't go into specifics...

Look People, and You Know Who You Are.......the constant beeping in your house that you refuse to fix, and it is very common in a group of individual's homes......that beeping is your smoke alarm.....all you have to do to fix it, REPLACE THE BATTERY, it is a 5 dollar battery, and it will stop the constant beeping.......Anyone that is in a position to visit homes, tell me if I'm wrong.

Been in retail longer than I care to admit, from small box to large box, and transition to my own business.

As a business man I realized that each customer I get through the door is a blessing, it means one more hour of payroll for my employees, it means food on the table for someone I employ.

Ive run multi-unit big box at major companies, to #ty little shops in malls in bad areas when I first started, the philosophy of every customer is important is what has driven me to success.

Ive watched the trend, I saw where big box was heading, When F--- the customer attitude and bottom line become key is when you see these service and sales giants failed.

Its why I went from big box to self employees, I didn't like the trend and I got out when I saw the potential for large box failures like we are seeing.

again just my two cents, as its worked for me.

But you keep collecting that money from customers you loath, I am sure they feel your warmth and will gladly keep patronage of your place.

Perhaps insult lower incomes people intelligence some more, or how about any other ethnicity that really piss you off?

I have never heard of groupons. What are they?

Is this slang for coupons?

Huh, that is weird. I have had only the complete opposite experiences with immigrants from India. Usually they are kinder, gentler, mellower, and more patient and understanding than your Average Joe Six-Pack. This is why racism doesn't work; because it is built on false premises and skewed, biased personal experiences. I understand that you said you're not trying to be a racialist, but stereotyping is hardly any better. (By the way, what I just did was "positive stereotyping" and it still isn't cool).

I didn't even know what a groupon was before reading your thread and I still don't. I see the word everywhere though. Time to put this mystery word to rest.

I own a wildly successful business. The reason I ranted here is so that I could clear the things that have been bothering me. Being an internet baby I always feel better when I get to pound on the keyboard.

That being said, I don't EVER get caught loathing anyone. I have the kind of business that makes it real easy to be happy. Is it frustrating to treat Groupon clients just like everyone else and get treated worse in return? YOU BET!

I know a few people that use GroupOn on occasion to go to the higher end restaurants. I have to add that they know how to present themselves and how to properly act at the fine dining places so im sure you would love these kinds of folks.

I can imagine a lot of people are exactly the way you mention though... "pushy and entitled" as you mention. These people are usually the ones who say "the client is ALWAYS right". Let me tell you something, the client is barely ever right sadly.

I am sorry about the experiences you have had with Indian people, i have to completely disagree with you on that one. I don't think I've ever met a rude Indian to be honest.

I guess people just have to learn to use the proper 'GroupOn Etiquette' and businesses accepting GroupOn could also be more patient with their customers that use it.

I try telling myself the Indians I have been dealing with are "Americanized". Primarily computer people. It happened again today...... I could write a book. It has been truly something that all of my staff has noticed. It is flat out odd and more than a bit disappointing. Perhaps it is just the area I am in.

As for patient; Did I mention I have a time sensitive gig? They are not there on time I lose money, lots.

One thing i have to add is that the Indians I've had contact with over here are very very polite. The only negative experiences I've had were with people that are currently in India. I work for an online business and we have 4 female Indian receptionists + their 2 bosses. The women are extremely polite and well mannered but the men are sometimes rude and makes themselves look like "know-it-all's" (to our receptionists, not me... i would set them straight. I'm already unhappy about working for a company that outsources jobs that people in my country should have,, but that's a whole other thread).

They also used shady practices like having 2 of the 4 receptionists working instead of all four, making the girls work on two stations each... while WE paid four the full four employees for the day!
