Think Roberts was blackmailed most "conservatives" do not change their minds especially when it comes to the imporantance of Obama care.

Yes the tax does open the door that if the government deems you to buy one corporate product they can deem you to buy another corporate product.

Healthcare was the door that opened the way for guess what?

Solar,wind,electric cars and tax you if you do not.

People get stuck debate the "constitutionality" of the care act but it is what it represents is the true danger.

Why do I keep seeing people post (here and other places) that "now millions have health care"? Guess what, they still dont. This is not a health care plan. The welfare people will still get free care. And everyones taxes will go up. And if you dont buy ins. you will get taxed additionally.

One of the other threads had a link that show based on you income how much more you would pay in taxes. Mine came out to an extra $80 per check, $160 per month that I dont have.

Also to add to your point...Don't we all have state mandated auto insurance? And if were are caught driving without it we are fined, sometimes a significant amount. Sure if you don't want to drive you can forego the insurance but if you want to drive it is mandatory. Kind of the same thing isn't it?

And at least Obama won't be able to blame Bush any longer, I mean, if it weren't for Bush's decision to appoint Roberts, Obama would not have his healthcare.

In the court's private conference immediately after the arguments, he was aligned with the four conservatives to strike down the mandate.

Roberts was less clear on whether that also meant the rest of the law must fall, the source said. The other four conservatives believed that the mandate could not be lopped off from the rest of the law and that, since one key part was unconstitutional, the entire law must be struck down.

IMO Roberts was not about to side with Thomas, Alito, and Scalia to hand down another potential judicial "embarrassment", as he saw the Citizens United decision. He indeed did draw a line of Supreme Court power overreach/activism.

I just have to laugh at the "lamestream media" reference. I'm pretty sure lamestream media is a name for all non-right wing media. What is their motive indeed...

Been to Ohio much?They have other options. That argument is mute as driving is an option. To opt out of obamacare would need to be well "dead". Its a tax on living. On a funny note all these so called zombies might just be the ticket out of this mess. Do the living dead need comply with obamacare?

"Insurance" In its own right, is a form of socialism....

I believe, If this mandate were stuck down as unconstitutional, The ripple effect would have been unfathomable...

If you want to drive a car?, You MUST have insurance... (Financial responsibility laws)

If you want a loan for a house?, The house MUST be insured.

Oh!, And if you don't put at least 20% down on that home? ...Mortgage insurance.

Between taxes and insurance, I only get to keep about 20% of my income!
