When Tom's dad Neil noticed his son's talent, he apparently upped the stakes. Instead of having Tom simply throw balls across a table, dad helped set up expert-level tricks with props like a trash can, a skateboard and a trampoline. the ancients avoided excessively praising their kids for good reasons.

Apart from the fact that the dad only used those throws that hit the cup, I believe this boy is so good at it because he does it by gut feeling. His body just seems to understand the maths and physics behind what he is doing on an intrinsic level.
Its brilliant, hope he never tries to understand what he is doing because that would probably work against his skill.
