Freedom comes from the inside, it is a thought. And there for can not be taken away. Every single one of us are born free what we do with that freedom is the problem.



The founding fathers understood this and made a republic ruled by law not a democracy to safeguard what we we all born with. FREEDOM.

Yeah, America has it's problems. However, there are few who would stand in her way. We are still young and experiencing growing pains.

American people know there has been a infestation within our Government. We are well aware. History repeats itself and without a doubt American citizens will sort out this mess within due time.


With absolute power comes absolute corruption. It is something we have to deal with ever generation so it seams.

You ignore the immigrantion issues of Europe/Germany. The food and fuel issues that the US doesn't have no matter the "economics".
A debt load in the Euro-zone equal to if not worse than the US. Base resources long expended. All the positives of Germany are an indirect benefit of a US military presence for around three generations,at US expense of course.

You like socialism? Fine. The price of that socialism is freedom. The top "corporation", the Gov't, decides how much and how long.... on pretty well everything.
I will agree some socialism is a good thing, small communities, perhaps as big as state level, after that, it goes downhill fast.
Frankly, the Europeans should be grateful the US wasn't inclined to socialism, the US probably wouldn't have been in the position to "assist" as effectively in the two world wars.
When I look at the emmigration to both the US and Canada that continues to this day from Europe, it suggests there's a lot of Euros not too happy with the homeland either.

My post was more spoof than anything, but there is some truth in it. The US may not be the best country in the world any more, if ever, although the standards and measurement of that are pretty subjective, If I had to put odds on who has the best chance to turn this world-wide situation around and rebound strongly, it's the US.

Be it isolationist with an immediate withdrawl from the WTO and a 10-30% tariff on imports, it can be turned around pretty fast. Not even Ron Paul has the guts to say it. Of course that would have a huge negative impact on the rest of the world's enconomy. Yet, the US is painted as the evil ones, maybe it's time to live up to those expectations.....

How can you find my logic one sided when I don't come from Germany and I was discussing what was primarily discussed in the video. The fact is the U.S has the highest prison populace per capita than anywhere else in the world, China & Iran have both called you up on it & if they are calling you up about it then you know there is a real problem. It's not anti U.S rhetoric it's fact.

Socialism didn't really take hold in europe until after the world wars so I don't think it's relevant to the discussion. Certain socialist programs like universal healthcare do not have to cost that much & it's also about culture.
For example in the U.K if you are a permanent employee of a company you generally get as standard a pension scheme and health insurance. What this means is that even though we have the safety net of the NHS we can get specialist care for free through our work & often covers the whole family.

What I was basing my decision on the best country was as I said life expectancy, freedom to seek work unhindered, the right to protest without persecution, the right to travel without molestation (TSA) strong manufacturing & economic base & crucially the quality of life for people who from poor to rich is of a good standard. As I say Germany tick all those boxes and Holland etc,,

well I do not know you are speaking about a society , a nation or a government.

I hate to say it but I think Germany is probably the best country in the world right now. It is a free and open democracy, low unemployment, ecologically minded, high quality products, low mortality rate, good public healthcare and excellent worker benefits.
If you want a model on how to run a country it has to be said the Germans are very good at it just a pity about their Nazi background or Germany would be classed as the best country in the world.

The problem with America is that it has a high republican base which thinks socialism is a burden for the free and this type of mindset just ferments the us vs them mentality.

The countries of europe are a lot freer than America, they have less police brutality, longer life expectancy are free to move to any country in Europe to look for work, actively protest without fear & they don't have the TSA. The list could go on..

As an American that lived for 5 years in Germany, I agree with you. I am not a world traveler so I can't compare too many other countries to my own, or to Germany, but my experience there has left an indelible mark in my memory of "the way things oughta be..."
When 'PATRIOTS' blindly spout their "America is the greatest country in the world!" rhetoric, I often tell them what it was like living as a 'German' citizen.
Nothing in the video of the OP surprises or shocks me. I bet with some research, the list would go on and on. That being said, I don't think we are the worst. I just think we are capable of FAR GREATER, and it's unfortunate that thing have degraded to a point in the history of this country that I fear for it's future.

Not only this, but he's actually bloody good on guitar too :-)

Canada is a good country. they have unfortunately fallen victim to not knowing if they are european or american and have suffered the budgetary ills of attempting to be both. I have been the a number of times. Great country.

Australia, excellent. Great people, great food (minus the Vegemite) and generally just great. Love that place. Their latest PMs are probably as bad as our latest presidents but other wise the place is just great. Been there as well.

Middle East. been there too, a lot, and then some more. Love it, hate it, love to hate it. Wouldn't want to immigrate there but I have actually been there so at least I can say something about it. I would wager you haven't been.

New Zealand. I was just talking about how much I love NZ this last friday. Awesome. I have visited there many times and love Christchurch. It is like living in the midwest of the US but with the ocean near by. The architecture is great, the people are awesome, the bluffs are close and the beaches are really neat. Great place, move there in a minute.

Iceland, never been there so I can't pass judgement, unlike you. I am interested in how they are handling things and I am watchful. I have read and viewed a bit about them and it seems like a pretty good place.

"Europe": lived there for years. Love it. I doubt I would live in France but Germany is great, Netherlands, Spain, Italy are awesome. Austria is excellent. Never did too much E Europe so I can't speak for those areas but W Europe, friggin awesome, miss it every day.

Africa, well I have been to N Africa, can't say that I would encourage anyone to go there, but at least I was there to see and formulate an opinion.

England is ok. Food isn't too good and they are becoming a bit more of a police state than we are and faster than we are so I would agree that it isn't the best choice. I went there many times and always enjoyed it and I have friends who live there and enjoy it quite a lot. Visited many times. Not a bad place. Their are getting a bit too heavy on their surveillance though.

Central America--haven't been there. The "too many retired spooks" commment is nonsense. If that is true then it is probably a great place to live; surrounded by thousands of old fuddy duddies who don't want to interact with anyone. Sounds pretty great. Good weather to boot.

I understand where your coming from on where we're at and the apparency of a stable Germany. What's going on in Europe financially, culturally and economically right now is getting far less media coverage than America's situation.

I also fear for the US. I also feel some aspect/tradition of the US will survive what's likely coming- a world DIS-order. There are many admirable aspects of Europe and it's people.

Europe is one of the last places I'd want to be if there's an economic collapse. I will take my lifestyle over a European one by preference.

I guess survivability is a factor in picking the best place/country to live.

I'm staying right here, thanks....

Whatever is happening in "our" is happening in all countries.

Our surveillance is in city centers and I for one do feel safer knowing if anyone trys to beat me up they will get it on camera, also many of the cameras are speed cameras to catch naughty people breaking the speed limit.
You are right on the food thing, but because we are so multicultural we can get many different food types.
Did you try Black pudding? Hhhhhm it my fave with a full english breakfast

I liked the show tonight - they manage to drive home a point about how stupid some of the guest are -why are we listening to these IDIOTS - while framing it in human experience - work screwups - that we can pretty much all relate to.
