A great and true speech, a truth many Americans do not want to admit to, being patriotized from early childhood on. Not only a good start for the show, with a great performance from Jeff Daniels, but also something to reflect upon.

America IS a great country and it's people will think so again in time to come,

As if such an obvious thing needs saying. Tbh the concept of "greatest"countries shouldn't exist in the first place; for many reasons --- one being that it breeds an elitist attitude of citizens & causes disconnection between the species.

Generally speaking it's just nonsense; religious and cultural divisions are only enhanced by it as well.

I never agree with you but this is the third thing tonight in three different threads that I have to agree with. (I didnt comment on the others but I will) First I want to say thanks for the video. It hits the proverbial nail right on the head. America used to be the greatest country on the Earth, but it isn't any longer. I grew up in the America that he describes in the last half of the video.

America will never be what it once was until the sheeple all wake up and say enough is enough and take the country back from those who have destroyed it.

Good post and good vid.

I think the U.S. needs more self-criticism / someone who dares to publicly denounce uncomfortable truths.

Even when criticism is motivated by genuine concern, it seems Americans are somewhat allergic to it when it comes from abroad.

I once posted in a thread here on ATS that Germany beats the U.S. in pretty much all categories, except for military spendings and imprisonment per capita... people either ignored it or simply didn't believe me - or I was immediately labeled anti-american.

As far down Mr. Crappers bowl we've gone, there's no where I want to move to. Canada? Nope. too freaking cold and that country will fall apart within weeks of the US. Nowhere in Europe, that's for sure.

Australia? Maybe, but too many snakes and they're about to be overrun by Asians. New zealand? Bah.

Scratch Africa, the Mid-East? Yah right. Hmm. The south pole? Nope, no steaks... England? Nope praying on Sunday beats five times a day...

Iceland? Hmm. There's a possiblity. Costa Rica/Central America? Nope too many retired spooks. Siberia? Nope Canada without the beer. Some small, isolated Island that hasn't been nuked, immigrated to? Already bought up by the dudes who messed it all up..

Iceland is too small. It would be overpopulated in a year.

Nope. I'm hunkering down. Survivalist mode. Plenty of food, away from the cities and who knows, maybe it will get better some day.

BAM! That was the best video ever. I'm sure many people who were watching that when it aired were completely awestruck... he really dished it out to them. My favorite part was when he said this:

Any country that is the greatest, is better off living in hiding and not letting people believe they are. As you said, they'd be overpopulated within a year. And a country, that never knew hard crime, would suddenly be overpopulated with hard criminals.
