How in the hell did these Pacu end up in that lake?

Fish with human teethlike .. many have attempted to make hoax
and in the image around the teeth its conveniently way to white
its impossible for fish to have teeth like that

sorry i dont buy this story
maybe a 2 head fish or a cyclop cat but not a fish with good looking human teeth
fish jaws are just not made to have square teeths

Actually there jaws and teeth are designed for crushing. The bite would be ragged and painful. A far cry from it's more interlocking scalpel toothed cousins.

So what the big deal?

The big deal is that these fish are not native to this area.

We are a pretty long ways from South America friend.

This could possibly turn into an invasive species problem if the fish adapt and thrive in the midwestern waters.

All one has to do is look up the carp issue that we are having here in the midwest to see what an invasive species does to the native waters.

Non native species are not good for the native wildlife.

But then again it is probably someone with the thinking like yours that released these fish in the first place, uh whats the big deal? We will see in 15 to 20 years if this becomes a problem or not.

Its for those reasons that i think this was accidentally introduced to the area by a fish or two that at some point were in a tank in someones house. The same thing happened with Oscars in several california lakes that were temperate enought for the species to thrive. They started killing local fish species and eating some specific type of algae that was of extreme importance to the water system, and caused big problems.

Get the light tackle out and fish for those things! Like i said, they are extremely tasty table fare... If you like fish like i do

Your first questions were pretty dumb considering the posts that had already been made.

I'm not sure which is worse... Scalpal teeth or bone crushing teeth, it's a tough one.

It's funny how we view fish with human-like teeth as creepy - I wonder if there were a species of fish that had the same amount of intelligence as the human race if they would find our teeth creepy. That being said, it's only a matter of time before somebody uses Photoshop and slaps braces on the fish!

Dolphins....

They arent fish, but the scientific evidence is there to support them being as smart as humans.

I might have to figure out what kind of bait to use and take a trip to Litchfield. I am a little south of there I could be there in about an hour and a half.

I might do it just to say that I caught one. I don't know about eating it though.

That reminds me of the quote... it escapes me at the moment, but that dolphins understand more of our language than we, humans, do of their language. I always enjoyed watching the old school "Flipper" TV series that used to run on Nickelodeon back in the early '90's.

just for fun let's watch the carnage wrought by the smaller cousin. Piranha!

edit on 05/06/2012 by usuallyfaded because: My phone didn't recognise pacu. i fixed it...
