Holmes hires lawyers and tells Cruise it's OVER I want a divorce

www.smh.com.au

Katie Holmes has retained two prominent law firms that specialise in break-ups among the wealthy as she files for divorce from Tom Cruise.

The Dawson's Creek actress announced through a lawyer on Friday that she had filed for divorce from her movie star husband of five years. The news surprised the entertainment industry, and apparently the actor himself. Cruise learned Holmes had initiated divorce proceedings in New York while he was working on a film set in Iceland.

Well, it's about bloody time. I don't think their were too many people in the world who did not feel sorry for Katie Holmes and the Scientology nightmare she married into. While this article itself doesn't specifically mention her reasons, other news sites are reporting it is because she doesn't want her child growing up in that 'kooky' religion.

Katie makes custody grab for Suri as she dumps Tom over 'religion'
Katie Holmes is making a break for it — and she wants to save Suri, too!

The pretty “Dawson’s Creek” actress has filed for divorce from Tom Cruise after 5 1/2 years of marriage, reps for both actors said yesterday, bringing down the curtains on one of Hollywood’s most watched and mocked unions.

Holmes will move for “primary residential custody” of their 6-year-old daughter, sources said.

The 33-year-old actress, raised Catholic in Ohio, allegedly doesn’t want her Scientologist hubby’s kooky “religion” or his pals to have any part in Suri’s upbringing or education now that she’s old enough to start school.

Gotta agree with her on the kooky part. That is one screwed up "religion".
Replace "religion" with "tax shelter" and it makes much more sense.

Scientology is not a religion, it is a dangerous cult, I can say that here in the UK, as it's not a recognised religion

I was soooo happy when I read the headlines yesterday! Scientology isn't a religion, it's a CULT and honestly I would not be surprised at all if Nicole Kiddman divorced him for the same reasons Katie is...... He's a small minded man with a big mam/God complex. He wanted a woman he could CONTROL and he thought young, naive Katie would be perfect. When they first met, she looked at him like most women do; she just saw his good looks and his superficial charm. Thank God she finally came to her senses!!!!!

Considering My Nicole (sigh
) has stated she never wants to talk about scientology again after her divorce it's a safe bet she got divorce because of it.

Starring upcoming actor/lawyer Buck McMoneymaker

not any worse than any other religion on this planet. I don't understand how people can complete hate Scientology but then be christians and shove money down the vatican's throat

There's really no difference, except christianity and islam are socially 'accepted'

And how can anyone be sorry for Katie Holmes?
It was her own decision to be with Cruise and back then it was very well know that he was deeply rooted into Scientology, just as John Travolta for example. Also it was known that Cruise is not the guy you wanna marry to get old with. He already had two divorces.
Yet she still married him and now divorces him for the exact same reason Nicole Kidman did before.
Gives me the impression that on top of being a bad actress, she's also not very intelligent.

Katie must have very good reasons for wanting to divorce him. Ever since she was young girl, she dreamed of being with him or possibly marrying him? I forgot how the story went, but I knew she wanted to be with him ever since she was young. Tom was her dream.

Makes you think just how bad things had to be in order for her to give up her life long dream.

Scientology is a Way of Life. They have helped me from NY and Charlotte, NC. They are very Powerful People, I like them, and have enjoyed learning.

I think you're wrong about that.

I think she was star struck with him at a very early age, and from footage of when they first started out, she genuinely looks like she is love, as well as him.

No big surprise really (about the divorce filing), though I do feel bad for him, because I don't think he wants this at all, but she must have her reasons.

Guess i will no longer have to wear my "free katie" t-shirt anymore. Its pink and skinny, rather like her. I bet Tom feels like a right d*** now about the sofa jumping.
Actually, WHY does anyone get married anymore? apart from irish travellers and the British/ Usa "special relationship", it seems as though everyone splits up these days.
