That usually indicates a bent pin on the cable, check both ends and see if one pin is bent.
Alternatively it could be a reaction to an unsupported resolution/refresh rate. Set your refresh rate to 60hz and set your resolution to 1024x768 and
see if that works and if it does start taking the resolution up.
