I found the quote you posted above from her quite telling.It's their mentality.I hope I'm not the only one who sees right through that.She's being brainwashed into believing EVERY man will find her attractive.So therefore she must cover herself up to avoid being "hit on" as she put it.

The Koran implies that women should dress modestly. It doesn't say women should cover their hair. That is a cultural, not a religious thing.

If Muslim women wish to cover their hair and set themselves apart from Western cultural norms, that is their choice. It doesn't suggest much of an effort to integrate though.

Provided that their daughters, who grow up to be westernised, don't get pressured to cover their hair, I don't have a great problem with.

On the other hand

A survey conducted in France in May 2003 found that 77 percent of girls wearing the hijab said they did so because of physical threats from Islamist groups.

The first two of your links are to anti-Islamic hate sites and the 'statistics' quoted in them are mostly fabrications or wild guesses by other haters of Islam. One of them actually uses David Livingstone (he of 'Dr. Livingstone, I presume) as a source!

Your last link, to Wikipedia, is okay, but it only speaks of the Inquisition. The claims are still absurd and your 'statistics' prove nothing.

So... fiddlesticks. As for your willingness to believe such arrant rubbish, it speaks volumes regarding your own attitudes.

Actually, David Livingstone is a first class primary source. His writings are based on first hand experience of what he writes, not a dusty academic writing 100 years later.

I have no love for Islam, as I have already made clear, nor for any other religion. But I know sectarian hatred and prejudice when I see them, and that is what I see in your post and olincasino's.

I think that many people dislike Muslims because some seem to think that their religion teaches that all Muslims should kill anyone who is not Muslim themselves. Overall, it just doesn't seem like a very tolerant religion. While other religions exhibited this in the past, such as Christianity, much of the violence has died down to the point of virtual non-existence. The same cannot be said of Islam...OR Judaism for that matter. So I think that is where much of the animosity comes from.

So tell us here, so everyone can be clear, what exactly does your religion teach its followers to do in regard to non-Muslims? Is Islam a religion of war, or a religion of peace? I have seen conflicting interpretations. I know that nutjobs can skew the message of any religion or doctrine, but usually the inherent meaning can be gleaned by logical reasoning. Anyway, I just wanted to offer up what I have personally witnessed, as well as put forth those questions. Thanks for the thread, and have a great day.

This is a bit over the top and extremely exaggerated, you make it seem like only Muslim men rape women in Australia. You may start your own thread and ask the questions you want answered about Christians in the middle east, but remember how Australia came to be and what happened to the natives.

I believe people should always stand for what they believe in no matter what anyone else says or thinks about them. Discrimination should stop right away, I'm fed up of it and I have been a victim all my life. I'm not even religious but I respect people who stand their ground.

Of course, Australian government agencies do not record rape crimes on the basis of religion or ethinic origin, so it remains somewhat an open question.

Nonetheless, apparently every rape committed in the capital of Norway, Oslo, in the last 5 years has been committed by Muslims, which would suggest that at least Muslim immigrants to Norway make up a disportionate high number of rapists.

At least one member of Parliament, André Oktay Dahl of the Conservative Party, calls the situation “critical” and is brave enough to acknowledge that many of the perpetrators come from cultures “with a reprehensible attitude toward women.”
