Hello to the ATS community, I am a long time reader of this website (since 2007) and have just decided to join so I can post my experiences as well as contibuting to the threads and posts of others. I am a 37 year old professional who resides in the North of the UK. I live on top of a big hill and have complete unrestricted views of the sky with no light pollution which makes for some fantastic night time viewing of the stars.

I have uploaded two pictures taken on the 25/06/2011 from my front window. I had been outside gardening when I heard a strange faint rumbling noise. As I looked up I saw a small silver object moving at tremendous speed in the sky. The object seemed very high altitude and was moving faster than a comparable passenger jet would seem to at the same view point.

After producing the contrails left (pictured) the rumbling noise stopped and the object also stopped producing contrails, then went into a cloud and vanished!!

I quickly got my camera and snapped the shots of the contrails and seemed to remember similar patterns found in sightings of the top secret AURORA aircraft.

Sorry for the quality of the pictures but I snapped them through a window with my mobile phone.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to meeting some of you in the forums soon

Not an Introduction Thread
*Closing Thread*

The Introduction Forum is for introductions To tell something about you; not to start a thread about a topic.“Intro threads” that are really “topic threads” will be removed.
Welcome to ATS, it’s time to introduce yourself.

You have posted what could be a very interesting topic in the "Introductions thread". This area is solely for introducing yourself (as you can see by browsing through other Introduction threads by new members). We apologize for this inconvenience, but its a necessity for a website as large as ours. After you have managed to get 20 posts under your belt, you can then start your own threads in their appropriate areas.

Strict code's like this are in place to help keep the machine 'running smoothly'. One of these policies is that members need to post their thoughts in the appropriate areas. I'm sure you'll understand the necessity for us having rules like this. It helps keep all the great threads and topics in their perspective areas of interest and not all lumped together, making it difficult to find when wanting to make additional comments.

With that said, I'm going to have to close this thread as it does not comply with the above stated rules. After you have managed to get 20 posts under your belt, start your own thread in one of the appropriate areas as we'd love to hear more on this subject you originally posted.

Thread closed, you can contact me by a private message for more information if needed after you have read the links provided above and in the final post below. Or you can also contact staff by alerting them here Complaints and Suggestions

Closing Thread See final post for more. After your initial 20 post replies, please create a thread where this subject can be properly discussed.

Thank you for the encouraging comment, I see lots of strange things here. I am litterally based on top of a hill and have views for miles. On a clear night the sky is totally breath taking and beautiful to watch. I intend to keep a camera close now and cant wait to post more pictures for the community to comment on.

Alright! This is the kind of new members ATS needs. First post and he's already brought something to the table.

Interesting photos. Although the contrails could have been caused by a lot of different aircraft looks wise, the fact that you saw what was making the contrail, and that it was traveling much faster than a commercial aircraft points to it being military in nature.

There is a base in Scotland that supposedly hosts the Aurora for the US. People have claimed seeing it flying out from there. (You can find multiple threads here at ATS about the Aurora some even mentioning it flying out of Scotland) So maybe you saw the Aurora. That being said you could have seen any other military fighter flying at high speed and altitude too.

What's interesting is you heard the rumbling of the engine but there was no sonic boom. Thats noteworthy, considering the speed you saw it traveling.

Anyways, Welcome to ATS!!! you seem like you'll be a great addition here. Also, keep looking up. Bet you could see a ton of UFO where you live. Keep a camera or video recorder ready and upload that stuff right here at ATS. we could use some good contributors.

Hi, welcome to ATS!

It was most likely normal contrails. I was just looking at alleged Aurora contrails and and i have seen actual planes do the same kinds of trails before.

My guess is that this type of contrail is made by some sort of air turbulence..

Pretty normal contrail there. See them off and on near where I live.

And be careful when you're quoting what he's saying without actually using a direct quote. He says it was moving faster, you change this to "much faster." Please note that he never said much faster. I only mention it for this reason - a small change like this, by itself, is not really that big of a deal. But if you do that, then the next person does it, and the next person does it, the whole thing is twisted by the time it gets through three people and by the time the thread is done, it no longer resembles what it originally said. Lets try to quote accurately so we can maintain the integrity of the thread

Yeah I see what you are saying. sorta like a game of telephone. Eventually the OP's intent will get distorted.

Either way I congratulate the OP for joining up and for a good first start.
