You pulled your kid out of school because 80% of the kids spoke another language? I pay -extra- for that privilege.

Really? You think MAKING my kid learn Spanish should be mandatory at 8 because the rest of the class can't understand English?

Good for you man.

Luck is where skill and opportunity meet.

I used to own a restaraunt. I had 2 guys working for me going to college. Pretty good guys, although stoners.
They'd come into the restaraunt when they had the "munchies" and eat, hang out, drink, kinda fun guys. Not bad workers when on the clock.

They came in one day with the L.A. Times and showed me the headlines that said "Minimum Wage Up .50cents an Hour in California" laughing their stoned asses off at me telling me I have to give them raises.

I looked at them and said "is THAT what you read?"

They said " don't give us your bullcrap, your OWNED pal, we get raises"

I said "What I read is the government is saying that you don't work hard enough. And based on your job performances, I have to increase ONE of your wages, and let the other go,that's what I read"

They went into "doooode, you can't do that."

I did.
It's NOT the .50cents an hour increase. It's the REST of the government witholding and insurance that costs.
It's real money.
This is not monopoly dough.

And for the record, anyone anywhere in the U.S. has always been able to walk into any emergency room in the Country and seek medical treatment. Period. Legal Illegal. What's your point?
Yeah Yeah, they BILL you.

I'm still not sure who is going to pay for this new found wealth of health insurance. The whole thing smells like politics. DUH! Get the votes from illegals, make them citizens, give them health insurance and sign the voter log?
WTF?

10 years ago: Health Insurance was about $500 bucks out of your paycheck with employer matched funds just for the employee.

5 years ago $900 per month.

Today? Same Blue Cross is $1300 for the same coverage. For what?

Same syringes, same aspirin, same doctors, same hospital bed, same salaries for doctors and nurses.

What went up?

Oh, we be spreading the wealth. Because we have compassion for our brothers and sisters.

Or we'll stick a drone up your ass for non-compliance! Or audit you,you rable rouser!

This is getting creepy.

Interesting story. Getting to the bottom half of your post regarding the cost of insurance. This is where the real issue is that is not addressed by Obamacare. Yes, I am happy that more people will have access to insurance. But, let's not kid ourselves. The insurance industry wrote Obamacare and they are the ones who will be reaping the REAL benefits.....not you or I.

Republicans like to say keep government out of business. In my opinion, you guys have it all wrong. The right thing to say is keep business out of government/politics. If business can keep their greedy hands out of government, Obamacare would probably be a true single payer system where your insurance rates would be significantly less than what you are paying today and more affordable for everyone.

Silly me what was i thiiking of course Obama and the left will get the credit .
edit on 28-6-2012 by neo96 because: (no reason given)

Sure he gets the credit. That's what we've been saying all along!

The GOP are the one's who love to label the ACA as Obamacare.

Why does it even matter where "credit" goes? Are you that politically nuts? You overlook the glaring argument in favor of childish viewpoints of who will get credit? Cmon dude. This mandate is corporate horsesh*#. Let's not get sidetracked by bickering like babies. The insurance companies won. The American people lost.

I love the idea of Americans being covered for medical costs, and I absolutely loathe insurance companies charging more and covering less, but this ruling is like giving a hungry dog a steak. It's just going to come back for more and more and more.

You want a pat on the back for predicting a 50/50 decision?

That is like claiming your psychic because you predicted it was a boy.

Not one single Republican voted for Obama care.

Not one so why didn't they vote for it if it was there "idea" ?

Because agreeing with anything that Blacky McKenya does is high treason within the GOP.

What happened? You all of a sudden forgot about "anyone but Obama"? Obama has continued many GOP inspired programs but they bash him at no end. It's called propaganda, Neo. You know this. I hope you do. I know you're not dumb.
Romney is their guy now. This is to ensure that the ACA stays in place. It's a game. The initial writer of the act on a state level is mysteriously running against the guy who instituted it on a federal level. The insurance companies have obviously been covering all their bases for years.

You figure out how to feed 6billion people. I actually am. Selfish? Yeah excuse me. I'm an American citizen and I HATE our politics and the people that work in them.
But?
I started working as a busboy for 75cents an hour when I was 13.
So according to my Social Security statement, I'm already payed IN FULL for any benefits when I turn 65 or whatever age they change it to.
I'm not betting on seeing ONE penny of that money I paid into. It won't be there.
Why? Because people think because they turn a certain age they MADE IT YAYYYYYY.
Government now pays them to stay alive. It's like a PENSION they didn't have to pay into.
Not me buddy.
I'll work until I'm dead, give my family whats left over, and hope they learned from my mistakes and theirs to pass off to the next generation.

Oh, and there's a WHOLE generation of senior citizens that know they took more out of the system then they put in. But THAT'S ok because they lasted to get old right?

Selfishness? Out of 6 billion people, I want my kids to have U.S. rights, because I've payed in for 40 years?

You BETCHA!

I don't remember being asked to pay for the military, yet 50% of our taxes go to the military insitution, while 45,000 people die each year in the US for not having insurance. And a lot of that budget goes to private contractors. You have been forced to pay private companies for awhile now.

What this law does is finally points our moral compass in the right direction.

But I am forced to go to a clinic since I have very little insurance, and they can not provide me with the proper care I need.

I dont care for the mumbo jumbo about socialism or what ever, all I know is that hopefully now I can go see someone who can provide me with the help I need, without paying some specialist $500 up front,JUST for a consultation.

I'm glad you will be able to get the healthcare you need.

Don't mind the people in this thread that would rather see you die...Obama had the right idea to get this reform going...and the SCOTUS has backed it up.

The auto insurance issue has been brought up but can not be compared to this. Buying auto insurance is only required if you decide to own/drive a vehicle. The only time that a fine is levied against you is if you are driving and you are caught by the authorities during a traffic stop or involved in an accident. There is no requirement to prove to the gov't that you have insurance on an annual basis or face a tax or fine.

that is not true. It is up to the individual states on how much auto insurance you have to own. In my state, it is very serious to not have it, they know immediately if you don't, and you pay a pretty hefty fine if you have a registered vehicle and no proof of insurance.

As for it being mandated, unless you never, ever, set foot in a car, you are covered by by car insurance somehow, even as a passenger.

Ah, good sir. You are trying to bring logic into a political affair. That might be useful, if you used it to see how the logic is being used to enrich the hospitals, doctors, and big pharma.

See, because, they will be the ones to profit from this. The most people who have insurance, the most people line up at the doctor's offices and pharmacies to get prescriptions filled.

In the end, it must be that this will lead to increased pharmaceutical sales. People will now have an incentive to get sick, too. ANY king of forced insurance does just that. People feel they might as well get sick sometimes if they are forced to pay for insurance. If all doctors who offer pills were to disappear, people would be forced to take care of themselves or else DIE as they rightfully should if they are too dense. That's right. Diabetic? Been eating junk food all your life? Goodbye. Truth be told there are books that detail how to reverse diabetes, if you use the self-control it takes to stick with a meal plan that provides HEALTH instead of diabetes!

Smoking for 40+ years? Got cancer? Goodbye. It's called taking responsibility for your own health. Nanny state should not be treating anyone who lived stupidly all their life and then wants help when that "joyful" ignorance catches up with them.

Reform has NOTHING to do with this plan. It's about OBAMA and Democrats and Pelosi and Reed Bro.
No where in my posts did I indicate I don't care about health programs.
That's rediculous.
How can you possibly take anyone seriously, on a logical level that says sign the bill and then we'll read it?
www.youtube.com...

And don't you democrats start saying I'm for Romney.(I'm not) That's not the problem. The GRANDSTANDING is nauseating. On both sides. Now the fricking republicans won't sign ANYTHING to make Obama look bad.

Most Americans are in favor of adjustments in the sytem.

I see the country splitting more and more. And if we don't agree with Obama we're a racist.

Sucks

Good post daynight. I for one know that all my bad choices will eventually catch up to me, but I know I won't live forever. So I accept that one day I will die and so will every one else. People have this sad sense that they will live forever, I just don't get it.

No one should be forced to cover the expense of another person, that's absurd.

What really pisses me off is I know for a fact 1st hand knowledge that there are over 70 million Americans on Section 8 housing, food stamps, welfare and guess what? 80% of them are capable of working.

I have a cousin in Hawaii that has kids a wife. He doesn't work and yet expects everyone to pay for him. He is such a lazy slob that since he hasn't had a job in 15 years he can't get insurance for his sick son. So this law gives him the leach on us the ability to get his son now the healthcare. Guess what he still isn't going to get a job to help his family out. See its these leaches in our world.

It's still unconstitutional, regardless of Roberts' mild stroke.

You are free to have that opinion...although your opinion doesn't matter.

What matters is that as of right now and until another SCOTUS overturns the ruling...the bill is Constitutional as defined by the Constitution. It is the law of the land and will be moving forward with it's implementation.

But you are still free to have your opinion....but you still have to follow the law.
