Turkey Sends Troops to Syria Border, Turkish Media Says

Armored Turkish military units began moving toward the Syrian border, Turkish media reported Thursday, as tensions along the long border continued to escalate.

The increased military mobilization appeared to have taken its cue from Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who said on Tuesday that Ankara would perceive "any Syrian military elements" as a threat

State-run Anadolu news agency reported late on Wednesday that Turkey's military had begun deploying troops at the Syrian border.

Turkish television reported Thursday that some of the vehicles were trucks carrying antiaircraft guns, reportedly to be dispersed along the border.

#s getting real people. Regardless of what NATO states, Turkey is posturing their military for a quick and swift response to anything. It seems the we may have another conflict on our hands...

I hope the War wont start this year..but when i think about..hmm i dont know..

The incident with the phantom was a deliberate provocation. If Turkey was not planning war this is not the way to de-escalate. Turkey will crush Assad sooner or later. If Assad was smart he could read the writing on the wall and seek asylum. Perhaps he knows that there is no way out and all he can do is prolong the inevitable.

And then Iran. But that is where it may become interesting.

Then when Syrian forces fire guns and artillery across the border into Turkey to target fleeing Syrians that is what - an accident or provocation? That occured well before this incident with the shoot down and Turkey invoked article IV for that incident as well while refraining from responding (occured back in March / April.

I find it interesting people will ignore those acts by Syria while jumping on the response of Turkey to the shootdown.

In the J-Post there was an article (as well as Russian media) talking about the situation. Apparently the Israeli PM received a call from President Putin who apparently apologized for the shootdown. Russia also just canceled the delivery of the S-300 missiles to Syria.

It's just precaution...no war...

That's news to me, top work!

It's one thing to move an initial garrison of your military after an incident like the shoot down but then to increas that presence right on the border after an 'emergency' NATO meeting?

I've been thinking for a while now that it has been quite some time with no major developments?

One would think things will get more serious whilst we're distracted with the Olympics but that's all too obvious.

Why would Putin apologize to the Isreali PM about the shoot down??
I saw the news piece saying that it was possibly Russia who shot the plane down, but you'd think he'd apologize to the right party?

Possibly more leniency when it comes to the Georgia situation because it sure doesn't seem like the U.S. is budging on their Missile Defence posture.

I actually had a poster say the following. Ill try and remember exactly.

"1. was month ago, so it is hardly a reason now

2. was because Turkey shelters the FSA terrorists on their territory.


So if anybody has a reason to attack it is Syria!

Why do you believe zionist propaganda? Syria has no interest in firing on fleeing Syrians. But that does make wonderful propaganda. As if the same Turkey that committed genocide against Armenia and has persecuted the Kurds is some kind of Angel of mercy for the Syrians to run to.

The Syrian government is fighting foreign mercs. Many of the same ones from Libya. Do you not see the pattern with the fake Arab Spring? Do you not understand what is going on with the Muslim Brotherhood? Do you not know that Erdogan is the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Turkey?

It is not "No arab country"

It is only the arab countries that are not friendly with, or allied with the US.

Any arab country that takes sides with the US is evil also.

Ask any enlightened person that has been indoctrinated and brainwashed by internet rumors and opinions.

They will be happy to inform you of all the bad countries in the world... Ironically, they all have positive relationships with the US.
