It took two years to get the perfect image from an Island close to Madagascar. God has blessed this universe with magnificent sights for us to behold.

It didn't take two years to make.
He waited two years to get the perfect light conditions.

Impressive, to say the least.

Imagine trying to capture an image for two years!
I hardly have patience for the timer on my microwave let alone a picture.

Just goes to show what a little dedication and preserverance will get you!

Nice picture!

If he has a plan to take the picture, he's actively searching / waiting for the right lighting conditions, and he then takes the picture then I'd say it took two years to make it.

Kind of like cooking something, you plan to cook it, have the recipe, and have to let something sit two hours, it still took you two hours to make it.

It's still a great picture though, whether it took him two years or two minutes to take it!

Thats an amazing shot from Earth, No wonder he had to go to an island to get the perfect light conditions, most people cant even see the Milky way, due to light pollution. Nice pic
Dont want to sound stupid, but is the very bright section of the pic, the center of our galaxy, or is this just part of a spiral arm???

Nevermind, just read the link, its part of Orions arm, and is the central band of our galaxy

Thanks for saving me the reading.
I was like Whahhhhh?!?! Two YEARS?!?!

I am a photographer and can not concieve of any way for a pic to take TWO years to make.
Cool pic though. I think that most people would be surprised at the quality of pics they could take of the milky way with their own cameras and a tripod.

I have plenty.
I'll post them sometime.
Pretty cool stuff.

you cant look at the milky way because we are part of it, when will people understand this...

the only way we could look at the milky way is if we are right now still eating another galaxy that we had a tug of war with and we are still eating the smaller galaxy... and i doubt it is ...

so this isnt the milky way

very very nice photo. I find it interesting to try to picture the idea that the darker spots you see are actually MASSIVE dust-clouds that are obscuring the real, extremely-bright center of the galaxy. The one part that is the brightest is the part that is unobscured in the longest line-of-sight.

Thank you for sharing!!!
