Watch Mt. Rainier

Topic started on 6-10-2004 @ 05:51 AM by anon-news

This is more of a tip to watch, not a news submission

Last night at approximately 1900 hours PDT an long-period event occurred on Mt. Rainier. It was picked up by the Mount Fremont, Mount Rainier webicorder here:

www.ess.washington.edu...

But was not picked up by any other Mt. Rainier webicorder, indicating that it was a low magnitude event. The low mag and long-period nature is indicative of magmatic encroachment. THERE WAS NO COINCIDING EVENT AT MSH to cause this, so this event was unique to the Mt. Rainier area.

This isn't necessarily newsworthy, but some one should continue to watch Rainier since you have members in the Seattle area.
