Here is a somewhat related update:

Sear ch teams investigating wreckage of Turkish jet shot down by Syrian forces find two helmets - but no sign of pilots

They find the helmets and boots but can't find the pilots...

I find that kind of suspicious.

Nato/Turkey say that shooting down the plane is unacceptable, but what if Syria had a plane flying in American airspace? I imagine that it would be a declaration of war by the United States and it's NATO partners.

In my opinion this is a veilled thread of systematic augmentation in the plan to attack Syria. Some might even think that Turkey sent this plane into Syrian airspace knowing that it would get shot down giving them a reason to rattle some sabers and demonize the already not so popular Syrian regime via the media.

Assad needs to be careful because his house of cards is about to come tumbling down.

You make some interesting points which are very possible, It could well be a bit of a 'False Flag', they've not found the pilots, yet, so it could've been flown remotely, on your other point though, If the USAF are anything like the RAF and an unidentified plane entered it's airspace, I'd imagine it would scramble jets and warn away the aircraft before shooting it down, not just shoot first.

IMO if the US or UK were in a state of war like Syria is they wouldn't be as forgiving as you believe. I do know that Russian planes are caught near the US border near Alaska quite often and are escorted back each time but I imagine if the US was in the middle of a civil war that is backed by foreign entities, they would react differently and be more reactive.

Kick ass and ask questions later would be the way to put it.

This is just my opinion based on logic so it does not mean it is 100% correct.

Well when you say state of war, then that would be different, the RAF have escorted nosey Russian planes away from the UK many time, however in a time of war it would be different I agree, however, I'd image Assad's forces know the Rebels have no air power, so they should have checked where the aircraft came from. Personally I think they made a big mistake, whether the incursion into their airspace was planned or not Assads forces have handed NATO the perfect excuse to try and interfere even more, although I personally don't think they will, but Israel on the other hand, they are bound to get stuck in, when it looks like Assads Regime is near collapse.

I couldn't agree more. We've done the same for decades. Heck, we still have the Mexican Federales who cross over the boarder on nearly a daily basis. We normally don't shoot first and ask who it is later.
