The Beach Beyond the Window

Jason didn't want to be back at home. He had just spent the last week on a quiet beach, soaking up the sun, feeling the ocean waves crash along the shore, and enjoying the company of the most beautiful woman. Why on earth would he want to be back to his daily life, full of work, and stress, when he could be taking pleasure in the better things in life? Everytime he closed his eyes he could see the brilliant blue of the water, feel the sand beneath his feet, and smell the salt in the air. More than anything, he could feel the touch of the wonderful woman he'd just spent the week with.

Every night since he'd been home Jason had been awakened in the middle of the night with a longing to be somewhere else. Even on the nights he'd spent with the love of his life since his return, there was an overwhelming urge to be away from the pointless routine that life seems to put on everyone. It wasn't that he wished to be somewhere other than with the woman he was sharing a bed with, but to take her away from her daily life as well. He would stare at the beautiful body next to him, and all he could see was her body glistening with oil, slightly wet from sweat and the ocean. Jason could feel her smooth skin rubbing against him when they were in the water, the ocean pushing their bodies closer, and closer together with each wave. At times, sleep didn't come easy after those thoughts entered his mind. All he could do was get closer to the woman he loved, and wish for another break from reality.

It was a lonely night alone at home when Jason first noticed the window. He had awoke in the early hours of the morning, and dragged himself to the kitchen, driven by a powerful thirst. While walking back to the bedroom, he noticed that it was brighter outside than it should have been for that time of night. He had just looked at the clock when he woke up, as he does everytime for fear that the hour to return to work was once again drawing near. It looked like the sun was just coming up, but he knew that he had several hours before that time. He was an avid viewer of the night sky as well, and the moon shouldn't be out either. Something wasn't quite right outside the window.

The most obvious thing other than the brightness was the trees and the ocean. Palm trees didn't grow where he lived, and unless someone moved the ocean closer to him while he slept, he didn't own ocean front property. The waves were crashing just outside his window. He couldn't hear them, nor smell the ocean, but the view was as plain as anything Jason had ever witnessed with his own eyes. The palm trees and ocean were there all right. He looked thru the window for several moments, enjoying his return to the beach, but then continued his walk back to the bedroom. "I'm just tired, or dreaming", Jason said to himself, "but I wish it was real."

He mentioned what he had seen to his beautiful woman, and they shared a good laugh at the thought of it. "If only dreams came true", she said to him. It was what they both longed for, to be back in the ocean, loving each other to the sound of waves, and the smell of salt in the air. Every day they spent together they talked about how they missed the feeling of freedom they had found in the week they shared, and how they wished to have that kind of life every day of their lives.

One night, not too long after the first night Jason had seen the vision in the kitchen window, he was yet again awakened by a powerful thirst. Fighting the sleep from his mind, he made his way into the kitchen, grabbed a drink from the fridge, and then froze in his tracks as he realized that the kitchen window was open. It was bright outside, the smell of salt lingered in the air, and a fine mist of ocean spray covered his face when he walked closer to the window. It was there. The ocean was really there. He could see it, he could feel it, he could smell it, he could taste it. Quickly, he ran to the bedroom to awaken his love who was sleeping peacefully in the bed he had just awoken from, knowing that the view from the window would probably be gone before he could get her into the kitchen.

Jason reached down to her, pulled her gently toward him, and began kissing her neck. He knew how she liked to wake up. He felt he smile, and she began running her hands thru his hair. "It's time to go baby", he wispered quietly into her ear as he kissed her neck one more time. Slightly confused, and mostly still asleep, she simply said, "Ok". Jason took her hand, and pulled her from the bed, his eyes never leaving hers for an instant.

Together, they made their way into the kitchen. The first thing they witnessed when they turned the corner was a small bird flying back out of the window, singing a lovely song as he went. The ocean was still outside. She saw it too. Her eyes were more a live than at any other time he had seen. "Are you ready to go?", she asked Jason. He smiled, kissed her with all the passion he had inside of him, and then they helped each other climb thru the window, and on to the awaiting beach. There had never been a more beautiful moment, never a more beautiful sunrise, and never a more beautiful love.

They had been given their wish.

They now live at The Beach Beyond the Window.

Thanks!

It was inspired by real life.

Of course, I changed my name, but the vision I saw in the window really happened.

We're still waiting for the ending in our real lives, and hoping that wishes do really come true.

they do, if the wish is pure and you really want it.

just be sure to always be honest with yourself no matter what.

I do think that most of the time dreams come true due to hard work and sacrifice. The dream is made reality thru those things because that is what shows the importance of the wish...it's what you wanted...and you did what needed to be done to make it come true.

Not all dreams become reality, but most of them can, if as you stated, you are honest with yourself about what it is you wish to achieve, and are willing to do what it takes to make them happen. Occasionally, life hands us a little extra dream fulfillment to reward us for good karma, so it never hurts to follow the right paths in life.
