This site is dedicated to conspiracy theories. Largely negativity...I'm sorry, but that's where conspiracy theories live. There is no doubting that.

As I don't believe that most people are inclined toward negativity (naive, i know), why are you here?

What do you get out of ATS? The occasional somewhat interesting story? Maybe you enjoy posting your own stories and the stars and flags that go with it?

I don't much care, but I DO have an interest...maybe an interest in other members? (that's my personal reason for sticking around), the topics? or just that you want to rise to the top of another meaningless hierarchy? Meaningless , of course, to me....it is what it is...

just curious...why are you here? and does it really mean anything? are you wasting your/our time?

You'd be surprised how much you can change the world with the internet! Been doing it for a decade now and still haven't made a dime for all the effort! I've given away billion dollar inventions just to get the information out to hopefully better the world and get just a little recognition, but I get nothing in return for the long battle I have been fighting!

I am here because it gets me thinking.

I know a majority of the threads are total rubbish, but its that one or two threads I find each day that make it all worth it.

I think that there are many reasons that people use ATS.

I like the site because it allows me to get some stuff out of my head that I feel needs to be said. It does not really matter that anyone hears. It is a release.

If someone does happen to hear what I am thinking, I enjoy hearing what other people think of my opinions.

There are a few members that I respect and I enjoy hearing their opinions.

I spend most time posting in the political forums. I think the guys that frequent the political forums are worried about the world. I am. I think that ATS can give you a sense that you are doing something positive by disussing important topics. The western governments ignore the real issues as does the MSM. I am glad that people are here talking about important things. I am glad other people are worried.

What I hate is people that call others 'shills' because they dare try to talk about stuff that is important to them. Some people would prefer that we dont think or care about anything too much.

People have called me a shill for China. People have called me a shill for Bob Katter. A shill for socialism. Its stupid. If those people would prefer to talk about giant wombat skeletons or some stupid ATS election, then great. Why are so so angered by people that actually care about stuff is what I cant work out.

If some guy hates Obama and wants to write a thread about it every day then good luck to them. I am glad they care about something. I do not see the problem.

I guess I am here to talk about the stuff that I care about and deep down I think that most people are very stupid and I want to help them by giving them a perspective that they may not have heard before.

number one reason would the subject matter and the ability to comment on it and read the comments of others.

learning to overcome personal gang attacks concerning grammar or opinions is also desirable. i'm nearly invulnerable to criticism. I credit this place for that.

i like coming to ats because there are so many different people with different views on a whole variety of subjects, some i agree with and some i don't, but its always interesting to see how other people think. its brilliant that people all over the world can chat to each other and share ideas in one place,

A lot of news stories are published on here, usually long before the mainstream mention anything, if they even mention anything at all.

The thing i like the most of all is the kind words that are shared here, i know there are occasionally people who tend to be a bit hot headed, but so far i have never had any of that behaviour directed at me. and i will admit that its encouraging to get stars for my posts as i'm so shy, i'll spend ages writing a post and then re-read several times just so i'm satisfied that i make sense and that i aren't going to offend someone, i've kinda grown up thinking no one really wanted to listen to me, so when i see that people have given me a star it means i must have said something right.

i've also noticed this last couple of weeks that i keep being drawn to the same peoples threads before even realising its an op that i'm familiar with, and its usually people who tend to have similar views as me,

and just one last thing, with this many clever and interesting people on ats i'm always learning new things, and i get to see so many different perspective on situations

thank you

Because the MSN doesn't give all the news and what it releases is often false.

There is a lot of silly info but there are often people here that will point out when it's wrong.

If you look at the regular news, it's negative too. People are always less concerned about the good things than the bad.

Good question.

I personally came here to learn there are some fantastic researchers on this site who can give an alternative view on what we are told by mainstream media.

There are also those fantastic people who can smell the bs where others can not and debunk some of the more out there stories.

This provides a fantastic forum for debate which watching the news can not acheive.

I have learned so much since joining this site which i did initially purely out of curiosity but it has inspired me to research all sorts of subject matter which i was pretty clueless to before coming here.

my only concern is when a thread drops off topic and becomes an unnecesary insults match because that does not provide information on the subject matter people getting stars and flags for insulting another is utterly deplorable we are here to learn from each other not everyone will be of the same opinion we must learn to accept that and teach each other rather than abuse each other for holding a different view.

I leave you in the love and light of the creator....

I am here because I like the fringe topics. I have always been partial to shows like Star Trek, Outer Limits and Firefox. The paranormal has always fascinated me. Since I was a child. Thus, the topics on this site are interesting and fun to me.

As to "negativity" - it's everywhere. Not just on sites like this one. Most discussion groups or forum sites deal with ignorance, hatefulness, and rudeness - by a certain percentage of their contributing posters. This is unavoidable in an open, public forum board like this one. It wouldn't matter one iota if the topic was pink bunnies and purple elephants, the world is filled with bullies - who prey on your fear and anger like a vampire. The internet just makes it easy for them to not have to take responsible for the things they say and how they treat other people.

Some people just need a good as$ whooping. If you see a bully, know, those are one of those people.

The conspiracy and politics found on the site are often some of the more passionate threads. I think that these are expectant to be negative in only that a debate is always present with many of the topics on this site. Divide. Conquer. Control.

They (whoever "they" are) gain nothing if we unite. Therefore, all things that cause negativity and arguing and debate, further their agenda, while we ignorantly and unaware - play along.

honestly there was a time in my life when i was suddenly interested in ETs, not because i thought i had been abducted but because i have always just been so interested in outer space and i came to the conclusion that there is no way that we are the only intelligent life in the cosmos so i started looking up alien encounters and that is what brought me to this site. I stay for the experiences that people post because i can usually relate to them because i also have had very strange things happen in my life. Im not very concerned about conspiracy theories because theories annoy me because there is no way to know if its right. I mainly just stay in the gray area and alien ufo forums.

For me there is no single reason but perhaps many...

1. I was born and grew up it what most would describe a haunted house. To this day I am not entirely sure if it was a demonic situation or a poltergeist situation. This expierence had a lasting effect on me and the desire to understand the truth of the paranormal was born, a desire that still burns to this day.

2. Through out my life, and aside from the expierence I had as a child, I have had a few life changing experiences dealing with Good and Evil. I no longer have the luxory of thinking God or what evil lurks as a myth. And with a scientific mindset this causes conflict within me and only adds to a hunger for further truth/proof.

3. I consider myself a well grounded, intelligent person. Having said that, I enjoy reading what others post here. Sifting through a conspirital situation, looking over ancient discoveries, witnessing someone open up their hearts and minds with memories and/or opinions all give me plenty to consider as well as provide entertainment.

How I actually stumbled across this site I can not recall. I do know it was sometime in 2004/2005 and was a lurker until I finally joined in 2007. Even now, as you can see by my post count, I still enjoy reading and researching more than posting, and refrain from doing so unless I feel I have something to add other than flamebait and/or argumentitive opinion.

I'm new, so I thought I might answer this.

I joined this site because others say that I am unstable. I will admit to depression and anxiety, but it is not as if I'm seeing Santa or the Easter bunny hop across the room! I look at the world and feel so disconnected. I'm an oddity. I wanted to come to a place where people were describing similar things to what I have been experiencing.

I don't know if I will get any answers here. But what I do know is that traditional medical science is not helping me. In fact, they are doping me. I've become MORE unstable since they stepped in. Belief in things that haven't scientifically been verified is "delusional".

Beware. Soon, you all will be rounded up and stamped mentally unstable.

I understand your 'predicament'. The thing is, ATS is quite popular - I don't know the numbers...but, apparently there are a lot of us 'unstable' people-types out there.

So, is ATS just another herd? Where is the unique-ness here? I look for the 'gems' in everything, I like ATS because I find them here more often than elsewhere...but, really, this is rare and the herd is gaining momentum, I feel.
