It is 18 in Australia.

I went to my first pub and got drunk at 13.

By 16 we were trying our luck regularly.

I wonder why its 21 in the US. Pretty stupid.

Louisiana has a completely different culture than the rest of the US, inc. when it comes to alcohol. We start younger (usually meaning folks can handle it better when they become adults). The federal government threatened to stop funding interstate repairs until the age changed from 18 to 21. So we went to 21 and now 90% of Louisianans from 18-20 are criminals. Genius policy.

And I mean that in the most politest way..... some of the nicest people one can meet, even if they do talk funny.

However, I have seen youngsters way under the legal age drinking beer. It's almost like if it were a soda or something, no big deal. It would definitely be frowned upon in some of the "uppity" states.

Louisiana is just a real laid back place where every one, kids included, like to have FUN!!!!
And beer is as common as water and mosquitoes!!!
