If you want to donate, then do so, if not...then it isn't really right to question others for doing so. It's a personal choice. Some people in this thread seem like they're upset over humans showing compassion for one another.

People feel bad for her. I just couldn't imagine if some sociopathic kids were saying such cruel things to my Grandmother. Teens making fun of elderly people is just sad to see.

Because people have a conscience and feel so sorry for her that they feel a need to do something.

Should she be getting donations? Probably not as much as the kids should be getting a good whallop..

Her fund is now at $250,000

Is that enough to buy a spine?

...or a clue as to how to be an adult?

Don't have much experience with kids huh?

Why care if she is getting donations. If you don't like the idea don't give a donation. Nobody is forcing anybody to donate. I would however, like to know what they did to those rotten kids.

If it is not out of your own pocket why would you care either way?

Easy there cowboy. I didn't give an opinion one way or another in my previous post.

I will now though, I can find many other charitable organizations that could possible use the money more than some lady that was unjustly picked on. What those kids did is absolutely unexceptable behavior, and they should. E reprimanded. Although the woman IMHO does not deserve a monitary compensation, this is unfournatley behavior she will have to learn to deal with, until the kids are delt with.

I feel for her as well, and I hope she recovers from the horrible ordeal. That being said I think learning how to deal with these kids and putting discipline tools back in the "tool box" of our adults should be the focus here, the money donated will probably do nothing to stop this type of behavior. Throwing money at current issues seems to be what people think of now days when there is a problem, which is why we have situations such as this in the first place.

If this was my Grandmother being bullied, I would be on death row, from beating those little ingrates to death with my baseball bat! I do not TOLERATE anyone disrespecting my Grandmother. I beat the # out of my OWN father for calling her a b*tch. What do you think I'd do to those who used words and taunts to torture her?

People giving her money? Good for them it is not ANYONE'S business what others do with their money, it is not yours, it is not your TAX money. I would be pissed if I found out she gave the money away after I donated ($250 Not much but enough to add to her retirement fund). The money is to help her, not anyone else. She is 68 years old, she does not need to be working.

Hey guys i've been through alot of # in my life and i've never been given money for it.
Well unless you count the couple times my bio dad bothered to see me and threw cash covered in guilt.
Why the hell should she be given any money? A grown women couldn't handle nasty words and gets 250k pfft
I bet loads of people here were bullied by far nastier kids then these when they were young and never got money.

She didn't ask for any money so what is everyone's problem? Dang if I want to give $$ to someone why should it bother you just because ...YOU never got any?

That's my question.

To retort, why SHOULDN'T she be getting donations?

If people see the video and feel for her, and want to express their empathy in the form of a $5 bill, and there's an account set up for that purpose, then that is their own business whether they go to that site and give her THEIR money. Anyone bitching about it is simply jealous or a koolaid drinking socialist.

if the corner stone of your " argument " is :

` why shouldnt she get donations ` ?

then please donate to me too , why shouldnt i get donations ?

< HINT > i am not actually requesting fonations - just hilighting the absurdity of your premise

the " problem " with donating money to this person - is IMHO - one of the fundamental failings of modern american thinking - namely the urge to give or request money to " fix " a problem that requires a non monetary solution

This is also a sign of the current generation of kids and how parents are getting worse and worse at raising them.

I donated a few dollars.
The gesture was more symbolic & to present a united stand, in that this despicable behavior is wrong & not acceptable.

I would hope the amount donated is a reflection of that outrage & even if it gets to $10 million, all the better to highlight the problem & come up with solutions. The fact that so many were touched enough to donate shows that many have suffered similar mental torture & degradation.

I don't think Karen should feel obligated to donate any of the money. I donated my portion to HER. What she chooses to do with it is up to her. She never asked for donations, & I'm sure never wanted what must be one of the most humiliating moments of her life captured for all the world to see & judge. I'm sure she never had any ambitions of fame of this kind & to have her face/name/occupation/income plastered everywhere. To me, thats further humiliation & only prolonging her suffering.
The outpouring of support , love & empathy will hopefully restore her (& many other victims worldwide) faith in humanity. There are still good , kind people in this world.

I hope she spends every last red cent doing WHATEVER makes her happy.

It is a personal decision, although I'm not sure whether or not money compensates for abuse. She should certainly never had to endure the bullying though.

Time to employ bus monitors who can shut kids up with just a glare..But it shouldn't have to be like this. What does it say about the kids who behave like this ?

Not being American, I'm not sure what the bus monitors job description is...are they employing people with the " Appropriate " skills ?

I didn't see anyone complain on here about Zimmerman getting 200k in donations after killing a kid, but people give an old lady money out of kindness and people get angry. Backwards place.

If people want to give there money to here, who am i to say they should not.

The second i watched the movie, i got a strong urge to send here a very positive message not money.. this is a psychological attack, better counter that with a very positive psychological experience.. Not saying sending money is no good, but you cannot put any value on thousands of people from over the world sending you a feel good message just because they share your pain.

GZ had a bounty put on his head.

Also, the money was for bond.

These are two different circumstances

I see posters say they were abused and here and there.. but was your humiliation viewed by 1.5+ billions people?

Stand up to those kids? are you freaking serious? one of those kids is enough to knock her out. Even if she fights back, the news would be like "School Bus Monitor Bullies Innocent Kids" and law suit and crap will come from lazy parents who sue other people for living.

The donation was started by local community to send her off to vacation, but when the news got caught on MSM, it just exploded and people started donating in money. It went from 20k to 250k over the week.

If you want to donate, go ahead. I think 250k is enough for her, it would be perfect for her retirement(along with school pension and government), she would be set for rest of her life.

Why bad mouth people that donate, i mean if they have money and feel bad for her, then go ahead.
