Social Psychologists call it cognitive dissonance and cognitive disequilibrium.
We make up our minds and deny anything that doesn't fit the paradigm we have mentally designed for ourselves, so we become negative about everything
but the things we believe, enjoy, desire, admire, respect...etc. etc.
This is the reason religious arguments are common, why political debates are heated, why there's predudice, why there's war, why there's established
science and fringe viewpoints, why there are outright liars and deception.
It's all in the mind folks.
