Xinhua picture of Liu Yang appears to be doctored

"Want China Times" Staff Reporter, Taipei

2012-06-19

www.wantchinatimes.com...

A photo of Liu Yang, China's first female astronaut, published by state news agency Xinhua has been found to be remarkably similar to another photo in which she wears a military uniform, prompting speculation on the internet that the picture of Liu in a spacesuit may have been modified from the earlier photo.

Definitely looks to be the same pic to me, but what reason would China have for doing this?

They didn't have another picture of her in her spacesuit and needed one?

I said that laughingly but that's probably exactly what happened.

Its the same pic alright. I copied one picture over the over and made the top one transparent by 50 %.

The one on the left was about 1% smaller but once adjusted you can see its an exact match 100%.

Ok i would certainly go along with this being doctored, i did notice the head was slightly bigger to fit the second image but other than that its absolutely identical

But the question remains... for what purposes?

Who cares?

Same reason teams have baseball players photos doctored with their new team's uniform on.

Someone needed a photo of her in a space suit, couldn't find one so they made due. There isn't a conspiracy here.

It's obviously the same picture, I would guess that it is just "lazy journalism"....the state news agency Xinhua needed to release a picture of Liu Yang in a space suit, she wasn't available for whatever reason, so they shopped a picture.....I'll bet many Western news agencies are guilty of similar practices.

Why would it be a simple explanation?Nothing is ever simple with the powers that be.

She has probably never been in space at all..

Apparently Xinhua is not the source of the image.

Closer examination of the photo has suggested it may have been doctored by Qin Xianan, a reporter with the People's Liberation Army. But most criticism has been leveled at Xinhua for failing to vet the picture.

www.wantchinatimes.com...

Kind of funny, both images appear here:
news.xinhuanet.com...

Sort of a tempest in a teapot. There are a lot of other (real) images of her to be found. On the other hand, maybe she died in training.

Ah yes, yes, of course.

The ominous, elusive, but ever present "powers that be" have faked a Chinese astronaut for unknown reasons. That must be it. I mean, it's totally obvious and makes tons of sense after all.

What if both images are pulled from another source. That may have some serious implications.

Fake space specialist J Oberg and fake debunker Phage and bunch of other P.S.
Since the demise of faked NASA Gemini, Apollo and Skylab and NASA manned program,
they are having hard times to find new fakes while had to grease on Israeli UFO pastures.

Good Grief, what a waste of time.

The 2 Biggest Haters of Mainland Chinese and its Space industry...Taiwan and NASA's one and only Expert sceptic, say a photo is wrong.

Its probably produced by the Taiwanese anyway...surely everyone knows the China-Taiwan hatred??

You are all aware Taipei is the capital of Taiwan?

There are HEAPS of photos of the Dragonauts, in their spacesuits.

NO..It is not Chinese Lanterns, a Chinese balloon, Chinese Swamp gas, A Chinese Hubcap.

Just Admit it, Nasa is going backwards.

Now if only our Sceptic could research (properly) the US Naval Space Command, we could get somewhere.
