I have heard all this old rag about them draining our resources for as long as there have been dull wits to utter it. However, the fact of the matter is that the Royal family have, I repeat, consistently bought in vastly more money than they receive from the state. They bring in tourism like you would not believe, with more than half of the new visitors to this nation yearly, doing so purely to snatch a glimpse of members of the Royal household, walk around their palaces, visit the stately homes they use as retreats and attend public functions at which they are likely to be sighted.

Those who believe they are growing fat, cancer like, from our labours, have not been paying attention to the figures.

If you are as passionate a Scot as you appear to be perhaps you could explain why the leader of the SNP, Alex Salmond, recently stated that if Scotland votes for independance then they still intend to retain Elizabeth as the Head Of State and Queen Of Scotland?

And it's also worth re-iterating that The Union came about at the bequest of Scots after king James VI of Scotland ascended the English throne.

Retaining The Union and changing it into something we can all be proud of is far more important and pertinent to me than retaining the monarchy.

Giving reasoned arguements why someone disagrees with the concept of a monarchy etc is something I can understand, sympathise and even agree with to a certain extent.

As much as I passionately and vehemently disagree with 'The Bedroom Tax' and numerous other parts of the same legislation the very fact that The Queen has given Royal Assent to The Welfare Bill despite the opposition of The House Of Lords is proof of her compliance and subservience to the will and power of The House Of Commons.

Perhaps you should direct your anger at Cameron, Clegg and their companions who drafted and passed this Bill through Parliament.

In the first place the people get the government the majority vote in....If you don't vote

then you surely can't complain about who gets in!

Whilst it may appear she has power the reality is somewhat different.

No monarch has witheld Royal Assent since 1708 and I have absolutely no doubt that if any monarch ever did it would lead to a constitutional crisis that would ultimately result in the abolition of the monarchy altogether.

Yes she has a choice to withold or even reserve Royal Assent but if she had done so she would have gone against the will of the democratically elected House Of Commons that is supposed to reflect and represent the will of the people, (something for which I have nothing but contempt, but that is a completely different arguement and one that has been covered before).

By giving Royal Assent she is abiding by the will of the people, (as unpleasant as that may be to both you and I), quite the opposite of what you allege.

Personally I am all in favour of urgent and radical reform of both the electoral and parliamentary procedures doing away with the outdated, unrepresentative and morally corrupt party political system and giving the electorate greater control and input into the actual governing of this country and greater accountability of all elected officials.

My point is that making money running a radio show doesn't instantly discredit your opinion.

Just because the Fed prints money, doesn't mean that everyone who makes money is an insider for the Federal Reserve. He's a popular radio talk show host, obviously he's going to have some association with people you may or may not like.

He does not worth for the CIA. He's a fat guy, with an internet connection who found a niche market and made a living.

And you can't say the Queen is good and Alex Jones is bad. I'm confident the Queen is far more connected to the CIA than Alex Jones.

Man, with all those connections and families... it's almost like every human being on the planet is related to each other some how.

It's almost like Roman Emperors slept with every woman they felt like, and Genghis Khan killed all the children and men and rapped all the women across half a continent.

Or maybe wealthy European families could afford to travel to the United States early and started to develop the land sooner?

Gee, maybe you're just telling us history.

But the theory that all these wealthy families have complete control over everything and everyone is ridiculous. Families grow apart rather quickly. I don't know any family members on either of my Grandmother's side of the family.

The whole "Blood Family" theory is easily discredited with the theory of "6 degrees of separation".

The Queen is just a parade and a land owner. Mostly a land owner. Publicly traded companies have more or less disabled the monarchy. The Queen doesn't tend to break the law either, she tries to maintain herself.

The problem is that banks are breaking the law, and changing the laws in order to justify them being broken. I don't think the queen deserves tax-benefit entitlement while austerity measures are in place and tuition fee's are going up, but I don't think the British monarchy will ever breed a Nero or a Caligula.
