Hey,
Lately, we have been seeing a lot of threads show up like this:

It's time to start policing the internet

License to have children

Depopulation is probably the answer

What is going on? Why are people suddenly feeling the urge to become fascists? Is it a new fad?

There is also this to be aware of:

Government think-tank calls for infiltrating conspiracy websites

Obama czar proposed government should infiltrate social network sites, chat rooms, message boards

Although, I'm not suggesting the originators of the above threads are psy-ops agents. They have all been here for a while, posting threads.

Sure, I think it's okay to express your opinion, regardless of what it is. But the reality is, no one is going to like living in a totalitarian society and if there is a noticeable trend of people supporting one, that's where we might end up.

Explanation: S&F!

Groupthink [wiki]

Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within groups of people. It is the mode of thinking that happens when the desire for harmony in a decision-making group overrides a realistic appraisal of alternatives. Group members try to minimize conflict and reach a consensus decision without critical evaluation of alternative ideas or viewpoints. Antecedent factors such as group cohesiveness, structural faults, and situational context play into the likelihood of whether or not groupthink will impact the decision-making process.

The primary socially negative cost of groupthink is the loss of individual creativity, uniqueness, and independent thinking. As a social science model, groupthink has an extensive reach and influences literature in the fields of communication studies, political science, social psychology, management, organizational theory, and information technology.

Personal Disclosure: I hope that helps!

It's not really a trend.
Just a group of messages that seem very very odd.

Trust me, ATS is a body that is comparably to the general population, only mildly influenced away from their true opinion.
Although things like this are brought up, I don't they hold real merit to the minds of ATS-rs

The only exception is probably 9/11, and Ron paul.

It's definitely something to keep in mind but ATSers are independent thinkers, and are less susceptible to the typical psyops. Definitely not swayed by threads created by others, our beliefs are pretty solid at this point.

i have to read the threads , that you have posted , but my question is , are the posters in support of their topics ?

keep in mind that , the Topics are most likely links to other websites or news outlets , but i can tell you that in my reality their are no red flags ,and it does not bother me one bit , however if you feel the topics are bothersome , i would urge you to do your homework until you can find an answer , but also except that their might not even be an answer .

and ask your self , are you feeling this way because of anxiety ? sometimes that can drive us to draw strange conclusions , and normal everyday occurrences that you might not pay any attention to might manifest it self in such a way that would connect dot's and thus form a conspiracy theory ,

its simple to take something that is unknown and create a story out of it if you will

best of luck to you my good man

humbly

because you have a thousand posts, all of the sudden you cease to become a government intelligence agent.

do you think the american intelligence agents are stupid. they're all college graduates meeting a certain psychological profile.

such as answering "yes" to a question like "will you do whatever it takes to defend your country" etc.

they also have decades of trial and error experience and unlimited budgets. they can also afford to have a specific unit dedicated to tracking subversives and finding threats on the internet.

i wouldn't be surprised with the things i read on here that they seriously considered or actually implemented an idea or used it to gain a new perspective on a problem.

It's probably just seeing a trend curtailed to what you want to see, which is a new trend of fascists, which would be interesting to say the least, but are these posts related to each other? There is much of a chance that they aren't so...

Because people are scared. They are seeing enough information that their belief system cannot support what is going on in the world today. It just doesn't mesh.

Instead of looking within for answers they are seeking answers outside of themselves. It is easier to turn over your livelihood to the state than it is to look inside yourself and change your belief patterns.

Meaning, it is easier to believe that the government has your better interest at heart (yet another outside force) than it is to believe you captain your own ship. That or a bunch of people are attempting to control the psyche here.

Collective train of thought, expecially on a forum like ATS where many threads evoke thought, tend to react like a wheat field in a summers breeze. How many times have you read a thread and/or post that acted as a muse inspiring you to create your own thread not so far removed from the original? Media outlets seem to react the same as well.

In other words, I do not feel anything is 'up' here..

ATS just like every other site like it on the net has been infiltrated. Nothing new. Been going on for some time now.

If applying logic and common sense to the topic of human overpopulation makes me a fascist, then so be it. It doesn't seem like you know what "fascism" means, though...

I saw those threads, and decided to not even read them. I have noticed a slight "trend" towards this type of thread, but I have the option of not reading them, and that's exactly what I chose to do.

Yuh I give up being an IO, maybe. Should I finish school, or should I stay in school?

Only reason I say that, is what is the point in becoming an IO if I can't make it as a cashier?

Yuh, I handle a possible robbery calmly, and everyone panics and I get written up for possible termination. But the person who wrote me up has the right to act erratic and like a lunatic in the parking lot when it comes to thieves?

If I can't make that, then I'll never get hired and then what would be the point in wasting my money for education?

Talk about a no win situation.

i've been coming to this site...for about about 7 years....maybe more....and i've noticed a HUGE difference in ATS. It's no longer the informational site it used to be. Now, it seems like people are just posting things, relevant to nothing. It's become like the MSM. Any thing that speaks truth, is lost in pages, upon pages of worthless chatter. Not sure how ATS can have T&C policies, and only enforce them, when speaking about certain drugs. I thought one of the T&C's was to make every post count? Instead, stupid 1 liners, with "second line" attached to it, are constantly permitted. A GREAT example is this top: Knowledge of Coming Major World Event Hidden in Nelly Furtado Music Video (Big Hoops). Over 1,000 comments and 57 pages of NOTHING!

Soo true.
I personally think the culprit is facebook and stuff like that. Its possible that ATS is being a victim of its popularity.
I've been around since 06' and this board was crowded will great, insightful mind. If you had nothing to bring to the table, you just didnt post at this time. The community was smaller, too.
Now, just a few of them had the resilience to stay, unfortunately.
And meanwhile we get 10 threads a day that pretend we are getting invaded by socialist.

/sigh

I'm with you on that. At least their thread titles are concise enough to serve as proper warning to not enter.

OnTopic: Silly ideas they may be, they are still ideas and if the posters are being genuine about them I can't complain about their threads, personally.

Sometimes we get members who register and right off the bat begin posting an incredible amount on this website, often with agenda apparent throughout. Thousands of posts within the month type of activity. They may or may not be what are referred to as "agents" or "disinfo shills" in that they are paid to do this, but the impact they have on this website can't be ignored regardless. Their dedication in influencing the community is worth noticing.

Members who have been around for some time and suddenly start expressing a certain set of ideas could be victims of propaganda themselves, not the instigators of it. Or maybe not.

I guess one suggestion would be if you see a thread that holds an idea you disagree with, or one that even angers you for whatever reason, exit the thread. Giving attention to it will be counterproductive to your expected desire for the thread to die in a fire. I'm a poet, and didn't even know it.

(@nuttin4nothin You have good points about T&C. The use of "2nd line" is my #1 pet peeve on this site. I'm pretty sure no moderator will stamp your thread if you make a good point in a single sentence, and adding "2nd line" does not constitute as a second line. Yet it runs rampant.)

One final thought: In most threads that contain extreme ideas, anything beyond page 10 is usually no man's land. Enter at your own peril!

My theory on this is that kids are out of school and the younger generations have been taught from birth to want a so called nanny state. Older generations can remember different times while new ones have seen big government only get bigger. It is more natural to them because of this. Of course this is just my opinion and not all of the younger generations think this way, but a lot of them have been taught to. It is just something to think about.

I just ignore threads that want to take away our freedom.

The people who post these threads are trying to manipulate this website I think.

This is nothing new. Dis Info threads have been around for a while. The trend in the 911 thread is a great example. It doesnt happen much now, but when it first was "born" there were many dis info threads. Not counting the countless members who were calling out other members as being dis info agents just for having a different opinion.

The only other Forum would be this years 2012 Election forum where anyone who is for RP is a fanatic and anyone who has a different opinion is labeled a dis info agent or something similar just in a different package.

Anyone who props up RP in a thread is considered a "Follower/dis info agent" (to me, its the same thing which we can discuss in a different thread if you wish).

This is all BS..you all should be ashamed of yourselves. I have called many a "shill" which is a little different but I think it fits because I do think people do things on purpose on these threads to cause some kind of "rise" out of either side.
